In a stunning Tuesday morning announcement, Jacksonville University said that it will no longer play football and will discontinue its Division I program, effective immediately. The university cited “a data-driven analysis” as the reason for the major changes to the athletics program. The Dolphins finished 3-9 this year, wrapping up their season with a 47-28 loss to San Diego on Nov. 23. Jacksonville University discontinues football program

That's not cool...
Does this push Stetson in alone direction or another?
Direction 1- drop football because the closest playing football teams in your conference is now gone?
Direction 2- add scholarship football because they dont even have a guaranteed in state game anymore?
This may even put any embers of starting football at UNF or FGCU out. But they are a little different in size and they are not private schools.
But, I feel bad for the JU players and staff. Maybe we can pick up a player or two for depth and possibly an assistant coach.

Hate it for the players and the coaches. Tough time of the year to lose a job.

Tough for players, coaches, alum, and fans. Wonder if they have some offensive lineman that need a scholarship?
