The men could pull this game off. We have to play much more disciplined than we did at South Dakota State. We were in that game not playing at the level we did against Samford. If Jamari can keep hitting from the perimeter it should open up Little and James. Agnes and Brim penetrating seem hard to defend. Our defense and rebounding will be what keeps this game close. I imagine it was a focal point after the last game. Lions sneak out a close one, 67-64.
I am guessing it will not be available on ESPN+ or ESPN3? I keep buying all these things to watch my Lions and the end up somewhere else....

It's on their conference streaming service like the last game. Guess I'll just listen. Can't pay for all of these 24 hour passes to these different sites.

Right....watching the live stats. We were up 9 and now down 13 at the half? That’s crazy...wish Blackmon had some offensive help. The three turnovers by us just crushed our momentum and sent them on a huge offensive run.

Young team lacking chemistry showed up tonight...0 steals for our defense is tough for us to overcome. We shot 47% from deep, with that you would think it would have been a close game. We attempted 7 more free throws, sounds good for us. Only made 52.9% of those free throws. Rebounding edge 35 to 34, way to go us. Difference makers in the game? Assists we only had 6 for the entire game? 13 assists for La Tech. Turnovers...can’t turn the ball over 17 times and not turn over the opponent. They had 5 turnovers. Bench points for us 12 got doubled there as Cajuns had 25. 15 point difference in points off turnovers favoring the Cajuns. 22 points more in the paint for the Cajuns 46-24. Start of this year is very similar to start of last year except we did beat Samford. Had a chance to win at South Dakota State. Lead by 9 in the first half before the turnover barrage.
Team hopefully will keep growing and turn into one competitive team by 2nd half of the season.

Defense is a state of mind. The first Bill Jones was offense oriented. The next Bill Jones was defense first. Players who weren't defense minded became that way or disappeared. Almost all became that way and UNA became a defensive power through the rest of the 70s due to Bill Jones and Tommy Suits philosophy: you can never have a "cold day" on defense since you aren't shooting the ball. Willie West was a high scorer coming out of high school and his first season at UNA under Bill E Jones. Bill L Jones stepped in and made West our defensive stopper and the rest bought in as well and the wins started pouring in. Of course that philosophy took us from a middling program to the Big Dance almost every year through the early 90s. After Gary Elliot retired, the winning ground to a halt eventually as we started giving up 80 points a game. With today's kids, I don't know if you can get them to play that hard on defense. You have to be willing to bleed like the 1979 team did at 2AM one early morning in the Applby Gym where they had a 2 hour "come to Jesus" practice without a basketball after an embarrassing loss to Troy State. The Lions turned a disappointing season into a National Championship after that.
