The first conference game of the season was a disappointing loss. However, I did see some positives. The necessary adjustments were made sooner, rather than later which kept us from falling so far behind. I am so impressed with the freshman catcher that showed such leadership in controlling the game. Even though he struggled some, he gave strong vocal cues to the players and praised the pitchers at times. The dugout was suddenly alive as well. For the first time this season, I saw a glimpse of the old team! Shouting encouragements and showing they were engaged. The difference was well received and felt by all! Our bats came alive, the players made very few mistakes and in general looked like they were serious about playing the game! Again, our freshmen players showed real potential and that is a very strong positive for the future of the overall program. I'm not sure what happened, but there was a totally different attitude in our team and it showed despite the loss. I'm eager to see what we can do today in game 2! Go Lions!

I could tell, they looked like a more energetic team. Hope it builds through the rest of the season.

Announcer just said there are more UNA fans at the game than KSU fans. There were quite a few at the Alabama game...

Ugh. So close. But, a good game played by the Lions. I thought so. I think it's kind of funny that we can have such a bad start to the season and still a first year D1 program travels more fans than the home team probably averages.

We are easily at the top of the conference in fan support, IMO. Liberty is maybe up there as well, but they have the advantage of a larger alumni base.

That one hurt. Our boys were really coming together, supporting each other and playing well. The umpire at the plate was incredibly inconsistent with his calls, which made our pitchers struggle to to understand where the strike zone was. There were at least two inning that I felt like we had to get 4 outs. I'm proud of the team and the way they continued to play hard and keep the energy level high until the last play! Great chatter in the dugout!

I just liked your comment because you posted it, not because we got beat. Just to make that clear...lol

Just when I thought things were looking up....same routine, different loss. Game two we made early adjustments, the team was cheering and energetic, and we came very close to the win. Today, for reasons not understood by most, the strategy goes back to leaving in a struggling pitcher until we dig deep into a hole, then we start rotating pitchers faster than spinning top! Do we not yet understand that the decision to throw your team into a pit of despair rarely creates a winning situation? That takes the wind out of the sails, so to speak! Fans are getting angry, the team is down in the dumps and nothing changes? We have been hitting the ball somewhat better. However, we continue to strand runners without gaining the needed runs. We cannot continue to depend on the other team making an error or their pitcher tiring out, in order to get a run. It just doesn't sit well that we bring in a new pitching coach, and the pitching seems to be falling apart rather than improving and developing. Something needs to give!
