Auburn 4star freshman RB will be transferring from Auburn because apparently either, A- knowing how to count is not a prerequisite to coach there, or B- they dontgive a crap about the players best interests at Auburn. Either way, he is pissed and is transferring.
He is from Austin High School in Decatur. I have already heard from 2 different sources that he is considering UNA. We could use a high caliber RB with a few years to play. What are the chances?

I would be shocked if he if doesn’t go to JSU. Hope UNA is in the conversation.

I’d love for the guy to come here, but is he good enough to be a starter or at least get significant playing time in the SEC? If so, I’d have to imagine he wants to stay there. Now, with his situation being what it is, maybe he doesn’t like the thought of sitting out next year. Hopefully that’s the case. Maybe Willis can sell him on the fact that FCS guys can get drafted just like FBS - see Carson Wentz. Maybe not the best example since NDSU is a different animal, but I’d still go with that.

He was in the mix for starting RB for 2019, at least that's what I have read. Would he have to sit if he dropped to FCS? I imagine he would bring that it's still a D1 school? I cant remember what the rules are regarding that.

I was pretty sure of that already, but double-checked myself. I just read this article.

But, as you said, the only play is the pro aspect, we could point to players like Janoris Jenkins, and anyone else in UNAs past that have been drafted. We cant use the pitch of competing for a championship though. Although we have a great schedule for FCS.

Take a trip to Montana, and a trip to BYU. Play in games in Florence that are under an hour from home, and road games at places like Jacksonville and Chattanooga that are easy trips for your family. Play for a coach that helped send Janoris Jenkins to the NFL. It's not playing in front of 100,000 people in the SEC, but there are advantages. The no championship aspect of it stinks, of course. But you never know what a kid's priorities are.

Being close to home is about all we have to offer over folks like JSU, KSU, etc. They can dangle the playoffs in front of them.
But, like's been said already, you never know what will sway their decisions on transferring. I expect him to land somewhere soon to be involved in spring ball.

I don't know if the allure of FCS playoffs is that big a deal for players of his caliber because to them it's just more chances to suffer a career-ending injury. Look how many of them are beginning to skip regular season and bowl games. Since he will have to transfer down to play in 2019, his main goal will be the quickest route to the pros. Maybe his uncle, former Lion Bruce Jones, could help.
