I listened to a podcast for basketball yesterday that had Coach Tiber being interviewed. And I have heard this from a few people before, but just because we cant make the NCAA tournament, we can still qualify and accept an invite to the NIT or any other postseason tournaments that are not sanctioned by the NCAA. So in reality, the Women could play in the NIT, and if by some long shot, the Men put it together and finish with a good enough record they could get in the CIT. Those are good things for a transitional program to tell recruits.

Surely that would be good enough for the WNIT.

Did she mention the NIT? It is an NCAA-sponsored tournament. I wonder if that matters. I do know the CBI and WBI are not NCAA-sanctioned and are definitely fair game.

Abilene Christian went to the WNIT twice during their transition period. Won in the first round in 2017.

That’s awesome news...how cool would it be to host a game or two? I would think that would draw quite a few people. Men will likely need a strong conference record and run during the ASUN tournament. Lions are definitely capable.
