I touched on this in the Pick the Score thread, but thought we could use a separate thread to make this more visible. What are your options for watching or listening to the Lions this year? A lot has been said about conferences having deals with ESPN to broadcast games. But that's confusing, since you ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPN+, etc. Here's what I know: ESPN+ is a streaming service (as in, only available online) that is subscription-based. It's $4.99/month, $49.99/year. The ASUN and Big South both have contracts with ESPN+ to show games from all sports. For this year, since we are technically Independent in football, the Big South contract only applies to us in one game - against Campbell. It will be on ESPN+. ESPN3 is completely free. It has games that are "web only", so not broadcast on actual TV. You can access these games through the WatchESPN app, or ESPN3.com. You DO have to have a cable or television subscription that offers ESPN for you to be allowed to use this service. Here is our schedule along with the TV option. I checked other teams' sites and listed anything they show: -@ Southern Utah: PlutoTV -@ Alabama A&M: ? -@ NDSU: ESPN+ - Azusa Pacific: Lion Vision -@ Campbell: ESPN+ - West Florida: Lion Vision - Mississippi College: Lion Vision -@ Jackson State: ? - Shorter: Lion Vision - North Greenville: Lion Vision *** Meanwhile, as far as radio goes, we are still on WBCF this year. Unfortunately, their website still looks like it was made with Geocities in the late 90s. But, I have seen them advertising an app (which is hopefully a little more modern). You should be able to listen to the games on either. Also, is this news? On roarlions.com it states: UNA's football broadcasts will be carried over WBCF 97.1 FM. The UNA broadcast team will be led by play-by-play announcer Benjamin Ray and color analyst Bryan Neece. Audio streaming of the broadcasts will also be available at www.wbcf.com. You can also download the WBCF App to your android or iphone to listen to the Lions wherever you are.Wasn't Phil Stevenson still doing play-by-play last year? I don't even know for sure if I listened to any radio broadcasts last year, but I believe I did and I'm pretty sure he was on there. I wasn't aware that he had been replaced. |

ESPN3 is broadcast on TV if you have sling. It is no different than ESPN. I watch it on my big screen. You can buy sling per month. I plan on watching a lot of basketball games this year!

Good to see the mighty blowtorch of the surounding 4 blocks, binky Carl broadcasting, will continue to keep Lions' athletics a secret from the rest of the world! Great move, UNA! That's very impressive. Since I don't live next door, guess I'll be in the dark again this year. Hey UNA, you should at least pick a station that sends up smoke signals or sends out runners to deliver a printed description of each play. That is so little league for a "D1" school.... unless there are a hundred thousand people living next door to the massive 9 foot transmitter. Sad. |

I look forward to watching Saturday on the big screen. If you have a Roku stick you can watch Saturday nights game. I think it was channel 230 on Pluto thru Roku. Pluto is one of the options in the squares where you can select hulu, VUDU, sling, Netflix, etc. scroll down and click on Pluto. Free TV for all Roku stick owners. You can get a Roku and plug it in for around $30 at Wal-Mart. Follow the instructions for setup, pretty easy. I have very fast wireless so my picture is always great, actually better than cable.

We use Roku on a couple of TVs here at work. I agree, it's a great device and easy to use. Chromecast is a similar device, though a little pricier. The advantage with Chromecast is, if you have an iPhone/iPad/Android device, and the app supports it, you can basically cast whatever is on your device screen right to your TV. I have a YouTube TV account and this is what we normally do at my house, at least on one of our TVs. The TV is in our living room has Android software and actually has Chromecast built-in. Apple TV and Amazon Firestick are the other options. I've used Apple TV and like it, but it's the priciest ($100 and up). I'm not very familiar with Firestick, though I think it is similar in a lot of ways to Roku. I've heard good things about Sling but never used it. I can vouch for YouTube TV though. We dropped our cable package and use it in combination with Netflix and Amazon Prime. Provides us all the TV we need. YouTube TV comes with all the ESPNs (1/2/3/U/SEC), plus local channels in a lot of areas. Whenever I've taken my phone and iPad to Florence, it automatically switches to Huntsville stations for live ABC/CBS/NBC/Fox. |

If you have a Roku stick then you can watch Pluto TV for free if not go purchase a Roku stick at Walmart for $30 and you could watch the game Saturday night and also signed up for sling TV and you will have ESPN3 for like 20 bucks a month once you pay for the Roku stick you have it and it’s paid for just a one time deal once you get your Roku set up quick on Pluto and it is channel 230 that’s the big sky

I have YouTube TV ($40/month) and the Roku Streaming Plus stick. Both are great and easy to use.

I do not have dish but was told Pluto was available there with an upcharge? Just what I heard I cannot verify. Roku is easy is you have fast wireless service and offers quite a bit.

Except for the efforts of the host team, Lions fans like me were shut out both audio-wise and visually. I understand that I was a thousand miles away in Town Creek but.... As a kid I used to drive from Cloverdale to Florence to listen to Alabama basketball on AM radio. I'm not doing that anymore.

As a kid I used to drive from Cloverdale to Florence to listen to Alabama basketball on AM radio. I'm not doing that anymore. Apparently you have no internet connections or mobile devices. It’s strange to me how people across the nation could have listen without a radio or even watch the game last night and a certain fan in Lawrence County Alabama couldn’t. |

Strange to me some people think good internet is available everywhere. I guess some people don't know everything. Since UNA has always gotten some of their top players from Lawrence County, it would seem to be a good idea to remember that there's more than one old man who have been disconnected because of their decision to go cheap. I guess the thousands of us folks who aren't important will continue to be stuck listening to and watching Alabama, Auburn and high school games and seeing the number of Lawrence County athletes coming to UNA continue to shrink.

Hey Catscratch. Go to your Apps and download WBCF radio app. Ben does an hour pregame show plus our broadcast team is actually better than most I have heard. I clicked on the App at halftime to listen and it was crystal clear on my phone. Hope this helps you.
