It hasn’t taken long for a couple of new players to make an impression on the North Alabama coaches. Georgia transfer KJ Smith and junior college transfer Riko Morris both arrived last week, missing almost two full weeks of fall camp. But after Monday’s practice coach Chris Willis said he expects both to be play big roles this season. Smith began practicing with the Lions on Thursday. Because he had practiced with Georgia early in fall camp he was able to jump right in and practice in full pads at UNA. Smith was on Georgia’s squad for two seasons but never played for the Bulldogs.
“Riko Morris is going to be a big pickup — he just has to get caught up,” Willis said. “He made some great catches today, even though he couldn’t go through everything because he wasn’t in full gear.”
freshman defensive tackle Khamari Brown — has been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Like Morris, Brown had some academic work to finish over the summer and was just cleared to begin practice. The former Hoover standout practiced with the Lions on Monday.
