After graduating from a high school in Dothan in the late '60s, Artis Gilmore moved on to Jacksonville University. At 7'2" (minus the hair), he combined with 7'1" Pembroke Burrows III to become a feared front line for the Dolphins even though dunking was illegal.
7-2 240 with a 28 inch waist and 34 inch thighs (doesn't sound possible) and one of the strongest men in basketball, the rest of college and pro basketball had better be glad that he was a gentle man of God. If he had had a mean streak, it would have been lights out!
Glad we won't be playing YOU, A-Train!

Artis took Jacksonville to the championship game in 1970.

We'll never know if they were better than yuckCLA. Refs were even more intimidated by Wooden than by Bobby knut.
