With the mixed bag of FCS and D2 games, what are your expectations for this year? What would you consider successful?

I say 7-4 or 8-3 if we get good quarterback play.

I’ll tell y’all one thing... UNA is really putting Willis and his staff through a GAUNTLET next year. @jsu @kennesaw @monmouth @gardner Webb and @montana. Man I hope they realize that football doesn’t have it as easy to recruit D1 players that don’t mind a 4 year post season ban, worst facilities in D1 football, and being short staffed compared to other D1 schools similar in size

Man I hope they realize that football doesn’t have it as easy to recruit D1 players that don’t mind a 4 year post season ban, worst facilities in D1 football, and being short staffed compared to other D1 schools similar in size Let's be honest, Willis was a lazy hire to start with. The AD knew these next 4+ years would be tough and that fewer coaches would be interested in the job. Does it matter if you are losing to Montana by 30 or to some middle of the pack team by 10? At least by playing the big names you're probably getting a.) a little payout in the process, and b.) getting more exposure than you would playing a lesser team. I don't want to see us have multiple losing seasons, and we'll probably win at least a couple of games we shouldn't, but it was never going to be easy. As for this season it's just so hard to predict without knowing how the QB situation will shake out. We should probably win at least four of our D2 games. UWF will be a battle I'm sure. I think A&M is a winnable game. I don't know enough about Incarnate Word and Jackson State to say one way or the other. Southern Utah was a playoff team, and that's a long road trip. Campbell might be the most interesting game this year, since they'll be in our conference. It will be interesting to see how we stack up to them. I'd say if QB play resembles last year, we could go 4-7 or 5-6. I'll consider 7-4 or somehow better to be a great year.

Linder helps out with contacts I'm sure, but its mostly Willis. As far as the staffing goes, we are building it up, that's part of the transition as well. And the facilities, I thought was going to be worst in D1 as well, and it turns out, after a little research, we are about middle of the pack. The good thing is, they are addressing all the issues mentioned. Give them some time.

NDSU is a loss, but I love that we are playing them. A&M should be a win. Campbell should be a win IW and Jackson State should be wins. West Florida is going to be a very difficult team but hopefully we get the win.

Hopefully they lost some of their best players. The one positive about the first game is that sometimes teams can come out in an opener and simply lay an egg. Hopefully it isn't us. Maybe they'll underestimate us, as well. If we can go into Fargo 2-0, and then not lose by 40+ to the Bison... heck, I'll be pretty optimistic. Something I'm usually not

I believe we represent well against Southern Utah, but we do not have enough chemistry on oline, qb/receivers, running back will likely be determined in that game. Defense will keep us in the game. I think if we escape game one injury free we win at A&M in a good hard fought ballgame. We compete at NDSU, but really no worry in 2nd half of us stealing the game. We lose by 24. All other games will be winnable type games. West Florida played us without any players left last year...hopefully we will be gelling when they come to town.
I wonder if we will have fan day the week after the auction....a lot to try and get ready for in a short time...

I believe we can beat Southern Utah though. A&M though, I believe will be a blowout. A&M puts too much into being an HBCU, and not enough into athletics. (Hope that didn't come across wrong) to be competitive at any level. (I love the rivalry, but they really suck) The only other game that concerns me the most is West Florida, they should be stacked, on top of a recruiting edged, they have the last win against us, and their confidence should be through the roof. Hopefully we want revenge bad enough. All in all I think 2 losses is the most. Campbell will not be enough to stop us, the only team in the Big South that can is KSU. (Just being honest) they are weaker than the GSC by a long shot. Incarnate Word is terrible, even if they have a better than average year, they will not beat us. And Jackson State is about like A&M, hanging on to the HBCU deal and it's all but done. HBCU schools better decide what is more important, hanging on to a label or progressing. TSU and Hampton decided to move on.

I'm not sure I have any expectations. Or, I'm trying not to.
It's my hope we have a great year. We need that for recruiting through this transition. But, even if we don't, it's neat/weird/exciting/bittersweet to have our biggest GSC rivals replaced with FCS teams on the schedule.
Unlike other UNA squads, Football is going through this a bit slower. It will be interesting to see which approach (incremental or deep end of the pool) will work out for each team these first couple of years.
