First off CONGRATS on going FCS. The Lions will be very successful at this level. Florence is a wonderful town(I was up there last week during the W C Handy Festival).
I would like to know if you guys have heard anything about future games between our schools? I hope we are scheduled sometimes in the future, and I plan to ask our AD about this soon.
I also hope that "Duck's" little brother has a good career up there. I know he has to sit this year, but maybe he will be an asset down the road. I have met Duncan, and he seems like a good kid from a good family, and he does have some talent. I don't think he had a chance at VMI to show what he can do.
Good luck this year - except at Campbell where the AD there(formerly AD at Samford) is a very close friend of mine. I seriously hope y 'all have a good season, and make much headway for the future.

Thanks for the kind words. I was a D2 holdout until the end, but have gotten really excited about the future in FCS and all of D1. As for UNA and Samford, first of all did you see we have scheduled a basketball game for this season? I think that shows the athletic departments are at least talking to each other. I know we have made it a priority to play in-state schools as much as possible. It just makes too much sense, and will hopefully bring in some additional fans that never got excited about playing Arkansas Tech or Shorter (and it's hard to blame them). One thing to keep in mind with football is Coach Hatcher's background at Valdosta State. He should be very familiar with UNA. I would think that with him experiencing the UNA/Valdosta rivalry personally, he might see some potential in a series between our schools. We have your conference-mate in Chattanooga already scheduled for a four-game series starting in 2020, but the good thing about the Big South is having room for several non-conference games each year. I'm pretty confident UNA/Samford will happen at some point. I hope so, it's an easy road trip for the fans regardless of where the game is played. Good luck on your season as well. This may be the year you guys break through and win the SoCon, from what I've been reading.
