With the addition of Liberty, FGCU, Lipscomb, North Florida, that's 4 solid basketball programs. NJIT and KSU should be on the rise and Stetson and Jacksonville are always competitive. If we do our part in the next few years scheduling the type schools we are this year, we should be a strong program in the A-Sun. If everything goes how I see it trending, we could see 2 and 3 schools in the NCAA tournament soon.

I would really like to see one more program added, just to bring it to an even ten. I'm just a sucker for even numbers, and I think there are some scheduling advantages with ten. I like that in conference tournaments you can give the top two teams a bye in a single-elimination format. I DO think they should be picky about who they take. I wonder how dissatisfied Jacksonville State is with the OVC. If you see Murray State leave that could set some dominoes in motion, though I haven't seen any recent talk about their plans. Part of me would still like to see either UWG or VSU join us. I wonder how the ASUN would feel about another D2? Perhaps that door has closed. Glad we made it through. Brandon, I think you've said you are against a neutral-site basketball tournament? I think I'm for it personally. If nothing else it could help the conference feel a bit more "big-time". Maybe the timing isn't right yet, I don't know.

Maybe the timing isn't right yet, I don't know. I'm not against the Idea of a neutral site tournament, but usually, fans of mid-major schools usually can't get off work or have the funds to spend a week at a location to watch the tournament. So would the players feel big time showing up in (theoretically) Nashville to play in a big arena with A-Sun logos and championship banners everywhere, but 100 or so fans spread out in the seats? That's what the A-Sun used to do. Now, if the conference keeps trending up, and for a couple of years, 2,3 or maybe 4 teams gets invited to the NCAA tournament and a couple at a time to the NIT, then you may see a move back to a neutral site tournament and covering from ESPN 2 or U. Of topic, with the ESPN+ format, I would like to see the A-Sun jump ahead of all the mid majors and start their own ASun network, similar to the SEC network. Show classic games, tell about the schools, schedules and have hosts touring the towns the schools are in. (If they are thinking about it, I would love to hold a camera.)

At least for the next 5 or 7 years I don’t see no more than one conference member getting an invite to the Big Dance.
I believe an ASUN network might already be in the planning stages.

Maybe the timing isn't right yet, I don't know. I was the one that said I was against a neutral-site tournament. I've watched the ASUN tourney the past two years and the games are pretty exciting at the host schools. The title game was packed both years at FGCU, even as they lost this year to Lipscomb. Meanwhile, although I know not a good comparison, at the same time I was usually watching the GSC's tournament at Samford. Horrible. Hardly anyone there.

On one hand I don't think it's "fair" to have a tournament where one team can have a huge advantage over another like that. But then, we won three national championships at Braly, so that might be a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black Hopefully in time the tournament can grow to where it NEEDS to be neutral-site.
