Anyone planning on going to Cedar City on September 1st?
I'm noticing it's about 2.5 hours outside of Las Vegas. Considering vacationing there and going to see the game.

I notice its pretty darn close to some National Parks and National Monuments with very unique rock formations and terrain. Not only but, also.

I’d love to go, but since we just got back from a family trip to Disney World... our travel budget for the year is done.
I was in Salt Lake City a few years ago for work. It was a really fun city, definitely better than I expected. There is a direct flight there from Nashville. Went up to Park City during the week and loved it, as well. I wanted to get down to the southern part of the state after my conference was over, but it snowed some and we were hesitant to make a 4 hour drive in that (I’m an Alabamian, what can I say).
I’ve heard Bryce Canyon, and especially Zion, are both worth your time if you can do those. Actually had some family go through both a few weeks ago. The pictures were pretty amazing.

I was just out in CO and NM a few weeks ago. Loved it. Would be fun to do Vegas before or after the game but doubt that's in the budget so soon after the recent trip.

I would love to be able to go to Utah and enjoy watching the Lions play ball. But the reality is that between my job, my wife's job, and my 6 and 2 year old boys, it's not going to be an option. But, if I'm not mistaken, (I usually am) the Big Sky conference has a network that streams live on YouTube. If not YouTube, it may be another platform.
Southern Utah should be a good gauge for UNA to see where we are at. To be honest about it, I think this is a very winnable game for UNA if UNA has a good quarterback and running game. Our defense should surprise Southern Utah, they probably will not expect a school transitioning from D2 to have the type of talent we should have. We have played and won vs better teams.

I also noticed that their QB was a senior last year. That should be a plus for our defense.
Much like last year, the first game will rely heavily on that side of the ball.

I think our QB situation should be better than last year. One more year under his belt, a (in my opinion) offence that better sets up for our QB situation. Our receivers should be top notch. And O-Line should be good. Our only concern will be injuries, and that's nothing anyone can predict. If we stay healthy, have decent, don't even have to be great, QB play, we should win 10 games and beat Southern Utah. Of course NDSU will be next to impossible for us, do I think it could happen, if they overlook us to the point they can't rebound, yeah, but not likely. West Florida is the other, they will (should) be even better than last year, but i think with a healthy team last year we would have won that game.
I think we put too much into the anomaly that was last year, everything that could have went wrong did, and we still had an outside shot at making the playoffs. The old saying, What don't kill you makes you stronger comes to mind. Our coaches no doubt learned a great deal about themselves last year, the returning players should have as well. I am very positive going into this season.
The transition will be challenging no doubt. But we do have a top notch program. I consider UNA to be among the BlueBloods of college football. Even at the FCS level. We should have been there 30 years ago, with all of our peer schools.
My prediction (baring major changes to the program in the wrong way) UNA makes the playoffs year 1 after the transition. 5 year (after transition) prediction, don't be surprised to see UNA as seriously contending for National Championships.
Stay positive Lions

I'd love to get a win in our first game.
Was checking out Southern Utah a little online tonight.

Thanks for the posts! Looks like they have some size and speed, which I'd assumed anyway since they were conference champs and in the playoffs last year.
Thankfully, defense is our strong suit. If the defense doesn't do well in the first half, I'll be very nervous.
