I see where South Alabama 10 run ruled southern Indiana bringing the final record for each team this past weekend to South Alabama 4-0 Lamar 2-1 UNA 1-2 Southern Indiana 0-4
Not bad but a long way to go

Looks like we lack offensive fire power….have we hit a home run? With slightly below average pitching in the ASUN this may be another tough year?

Is Prachniak's job safe no matter what? What keeps his job safe? Making the ASUN tournament? Not finishing in the bottom 2 of the ASUN? Why is baseball consistently one of the worst programs for UNA?

Is Prachniak's job safe no matter what? What keeps his job safe? Making the ASUN tournament? Not finishing in the bottom 2 of the ASUN? Why is baseball consistently one of the worst programs for UNA? I've probably said this on here before, but I have read that lottery states are able to use the money earmarked for education to basically add additional, unofficial scholarships. Might just affect players from their own state, but with the baseball scholarship limit being something like 11, it probably keeps a lot of talent in Tennessee, Georgia, etc., from leaving the state. It also allows schools in those states to use the 11 true scholarships on players from Alabama. Now that's not a political statement on whether I support a lottery in Alabama or not, I'm just relaying what I've read. I also don't have a clue whether it's ACTUALLY effective in taking talent from Alabama. I don't keep up with many of the other schools in the state. I think Alabama and Auburn usually finish middle of the pack-ish in the SEC, but don't quote me on that. Are other schools in the state suffering? I don't know. I think, with as bad as our team bottomed out, his job is safe as long as we improve our win total. I'm not very confident we will have a winning record, just looking at early season results. But then I'm far from a baseball expert.

I'll start with saying it's early. From looking at box scores/stats, team is hitting .191 with only 4 guys hitting over the Mendoza line of .200. Gotta figure that's going to improve. If I was a coach I'd figure my job will be on the line in a year or two more of sub 15 win seasons. Some of these guys have been here for 4-5-6 years. You pretty much know what you are going to get at the plate. From looking at box scores, pitching has been better than last year so far, except for 1 game. Alot less walks/hbp than last year. "IF" pitching can stay at this level and hitting gets back to what they should be doing, it's a 20 - 25 win season. Might sneak into the ASUN tourney with a bit of luck.
Let's not forget that the new coaching staff didn't step into a good situation...plus alot of key guys transferred out.

They may have not stepped into a good situation; however, they, the coaches, don't appear as if they want to win games. You don't pinch hit for a guy that has a zero batting average when you are one run down or have bases loaded with 2 outs down by 4? You need to change something to give yourself a chance to win.

I just can't watch baseball anymore. It bores me to death. As a kid in Florence, I watched every Braves game possible on TBS. I even watched the Cubs on WGN! It was the highlight of my day growing up in the 80s.
Now, it's like watching paint dry to me. I'd much rather watch softball.

No doubt that I questioned that one too.

Nobody in our lineup scares an opposing pitcher. Nobody. Pitchers having that much confidence makes the game a lot tougher. I know we can’t get all power hitters but having 1 or two would be nice.
