Both teams lost in round one. The women actually had a lead for three quarters of their game. Our D2 height caught up with us in the 2nd half of the women’s game. Gill scored by herself in quarters 3 and 4, somebody else has to help her. Callins apparently only feels comfortable shooting outside….those two layups that didn’t hit the rim sort of showed that late. We have guards, but not guards that penetrate all the way to basket and finish like our men’s team. All our girls appear to be much more comfortable shooting wide open three’s. Problem is when doesn’t have to defend the dribble drive the perimeter gets locked down. When they are not wide open, they pass it around until the shot clock runs out and throw up something which amounts to nothing. Coaching needs to address that issue. The women beat a lot of not so good teams down the stretch which is what you are supposed to do. We let Lipscomb an ok team beat us three times this year. Can’t happen. The men started off like it was their first time to play organized basketball. Ortiz not being himself really slowed our offense. Once Ortiz started playing his usual minutes and hitting his outside shots our whole offense turned. We played well until KJ went down. When one main guy in our rotation goes down we didn’t have an answer this year. Kuhl wasn’t it, maybe he figures it out this summer? Howell is good for a spark occasionally, usually when game is going well unfortunately. Soucie is heart but really not capable of carrying a team just doing the hustle guy that can give you effort plays. Core of the team seems pretty solid and if just one more player can contribute 6-8 points during a game in those moments when the starter has to be out what a difference.

Agree with everything you posted. Girls shooting for three has been Coach Tiber's hill to die on throughout her coaching career at UNA, so I highly doubt that she's gonna change that until we get rid of her. It was somewhat successful when the Wallen sisters were here, but not so much since. Boys definitely need someone to step up from the bench when one of our big guys is injured. Just didn't have it this year, maybe next year.

Fingers crossed! Also looks like Samford and Stetson maybe in it, too.

Wow, glad the tournament game and end of the season didn’t keep us from making another tournament.

I had just read an article about the CBI. Apparently, teams have to pay $27,500 to participate, as well as their travel expenses. The finances tend to reduce the pool of potential teams interested.

That’s crazy….I couldn’t tell you a single team that has ever won the CBI tournament.

Or does this tournament not count? It counts. It’s just not run by the NCAA, which allows them to invite teams in transition.

How does Marshall not make the NIT with 24 wins? Wow. My thoughts exactly After looking at their schedule, I understand it... First off, the Sun Belt is not a good basketball conference. I would not be afraid to say we would have more wins in the Sun Belt... I'm not saying they are a bad team, but I think their conference schedule combined with a weak non conference schedule hurt them bad. BUT.... that don't necessarily mean they will not get in the NIT... Selection is tomorrow I believe. My question is, how is Lipscomb not on the CBI list?
