I was reading some complaints about another university in the state, and what they are charging for things like a cheeseburger.
For anyone who has been to a home game this year... how have the prices been? Anything too ridiculous? I understand that if I go to a sporting event I will NOT be paying cheap prices, but I also don't want to see a family of 4 priced out from being able to attend games. $16 for a cheeseburger that is somewhere around McDonald's quality is a hard pass for me.
Also, has anyone heard anything about beer sales? I'm guessing it'll never happen at Braly due to being school board owned, but I don't see any reason we shouldn't be able to enjoy a cold one at Flowers or during a baseball or softball game.

I don't think it's unreasonable... is it higher than your convenience store

I used to buy the slaw dogs at Braly back in the day at UNA games after I graduated. And, then they went away. I think I'm right about that. Y'all may need to update me. But, when I was at the game last fall it seemed to be regular stuff for the expected markup.
What ticked me off about UWF games is that Blue Wahoos Stadium didn't open up the great upscale food venues they have for baseball. UWF would staff a few of the storefronts with the same ole boring concession offerings you'd expect. I'm like, I'll spend the cash for the cool food but I'm not buying overpriced nachos and pizza. Nope.

Nope. I haven't made it out to Toyota Field for the Trash Pandas yet, but I hear their food selection is pretty nice. They have local restaurants that have storefronts in the stadium. Which makes sense, really. Why should the team itself be in the restaurant game, when they can just bring in professionals? I'd be fine with the university continuing to sell popcorn, candy bars, etc., but I'd like to see them bring in a few food trucks or permanent vendors to sell anything more than that. Seems like it could be a win/win for all parties involved.

You would think so, but when you do that, they want to make a set amount of money a game, and of they don't meet that goal, it falls on the University to pay the difference. So in most games, it becomes an added expense. We tried that one year at my high school, worked okay until we started having a bad year, and people started staying home.

It needs to be profitable for the third-party, for sure. Having crowds of 3,000 consistently would probably help, but even that might be too few to really justify the expense for some businesses. Splitting up the men and women, unlike the doubleheaders that were usually done in D2, also makes it more difficult. I can't remember, do they still sell Chick-fil-A sandwiches at Braly? CFA is ALWAYS profitable, haha.
