Is there anyway we can watch/listen to Dearmon’s press conference at 2? I wondered the same thing. I don't see anything about a broadcast or live stream. That would seem to be super bush league by a Division 1 school. Lol.

They will probably put it on YouTube after the fact... On a different note, I just left, I really like him... he understands we need a defense as well. He's not afraid to step on toes and he is tradition oriented. He asked me why we got rid of Gold... lol

Something I have taken away from him, his wife is from Boaz. They have moved 9 times in 12 years of marriage. She seems to love the fact that they are closer to her family.

He’s also closer to family compared to south Florida. You could almost drive from Florence to Mobile and back quicker than a one-way drive from Boca Raton up here to the Gulf Coast. Win win.

This caught my eye after reading EKU’s post and you sharing this. I thought I recalled a job ad for an Athletics Development Director. Looks like he was hired in June. roarlions.com/staff-directory/payton-haslam/236Haslam previously served as athletics development director at Missouri State University from 2021-22. Prior to Missouri State, Haslam spent two years in the external affairs, ticketing and annual fund unit at SIU Edwardsville where he was completing his MBA. Haslam is a 2019 graduate of the University of Houston where he coordinated the Cougar Athletic Excellence Fund's GEM (Give Every Month) program and managed the profiles of more than 150 prospective donors. He also handled all sport-specific giving along with Cougar Booster programs. He graduated magna cum laude after a football career that extended from 2016 to 2018. He was a two-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team member.

Just watched Dearmon. He won the conference. Think he will win some football games too. I like his knowledge of North Alabama football. I also appreciate his approach to correcting our current status. He said he knows the defense has to get back to that championship level. Like his thoughts on recruiting, really excited about the next couple of weeks as he fills out his staff.

Just FYI, if anybody wants to watch the press conference, it's now up on YouTube and there's a link on RoarLions.com.
It was a good introduction. He didn't seem nervous and was prepared to speak. He sounds confident in his ability to win here. I'm anxious to see how the next few weeks of recruiting goes. Maybe even cautiously optimistic, which is an accomplishment for me haha.

As much as I want to be optimistic, (and I usually am) I feel like an abused dog, afraid to really let someone in... I hope he can. He seems legit. We will see... ROAR LIONS

Plenty of guys can "win the interview", but not make it work on the field. I'm hoping he can have results like Will Healy did at Austin Peay. That program was in about the same situation ours is in, but he came in and won almost immediately. Dearmon has a similar background as a young OC, and he's done it at a much higher level than Healy did. We have a few pieces already, ESPECIALLY if he can convince Powell to come back (which might be too much to ask for). If we can get some defensive guys in and even win 7 or 8 games next year, suddenly our perception with a lot of kids will be an improving program. The one good thing about the times we live in is, people have too short of a memory to care about what you did in the past. If we win some games next year, we can get our foot in the door with guys that might not have otherwise let us in. Of course... if he doesn't work a miracle next year, we shouldn't turn on him right away. Like I said a few posts ago, I'm crossing my fingers that he can bring some talent in from the schools that he's worked for recently.
