I hear you about D1 and player opportunities, and you’re also right about missing the winning.
I think what frustrates me the most, besides our administration looking completely inept, is that we unfortunately made this transition at a terrible time. With no stadium, the pandemic delaying the half-baked plan we had for one, NIL, the transfer portal, our biggest rival moving up and leaving us AGAIN… it’s a lot to process. No way any of us could’ve predicted this stuff in 2018 - I get that. But it’s all combined to make me feel like we are so far behind everyone else at our level that it will take years to catch up.
I think Looney has done a good job so far. I hope he sticks around for a while. My question is, do the people around him really care about being a successful D1 school? Will some of our fans finally start to see that just being D1 isn’t good enough?
You’re right. At 10,000 students now, we SHOULD have the ability to do this.
I’d prefer winning at the D2 level vs. being a doormat where we are. But obviously, climbing out of this hole and being a successful D1 program would be the best thing we could do.
