Whoever’s updating the site probably just feels like we all do… they’ll believe we can win an upset when they see it.
Just FYI, the stat from this morning’s paper that says it all? We’ve lost 22 of 26 against FCS teams. So just winning a game against an opponent that isn’t D2 is a monumental task at this point.

That stat just confirms why this staff needs to be let go after the Memphis game. You can’t really give them excuses like the transition and such when transitioning teams like Tarleton and Lindenwood are competing well during theirs. Lindenwood is 3-2 in their first five games of the transition after beating UCA yesterday.

Yep, it's the staff...
Anyone who says any different is delusional at this point.
Here is the thing, out of all of those FCS loses, I know of more than half we should have won. That's a big problem.
We should have been no worse than 3rd in the Big South while we was there.
We have the athlete's to be no worse than 3rd in the ASUN.
It's time to cut bait and find a better fit.
Anyone who has payed attention to me knows I gave Willis excuse after excuse but not anymore... Washed my hands.
Maybe Bobby can get him hired at West Alabama to Finnish out his state retirement.

Still can't get over blowing the lead to a hapless Southern Miss team in 2020.

Y'all know the biggest reason NDSU is so dominant?
FUNDAMENTALS....
They don't make mistakes, they are always in the right position to make plays, they hardly never turn the ball over, and the flags they get are usually of the hustle variety.
That's coaching. They have a system and abide by it. They could win in that system with worse talent than us.

That stat would have us at 4-22 in FCS. I've tried to figure it out because we are 10-22 in FCS games since the transition began. The Willis Era2022: 0-4 FCS, 1-0 D2 2021: 3-8 FCS 2020: O-3 FBS, 0-1 FCS 2019: 4-7 FCS 2018: 3-2 FCS, 4-1 D2 2017: 5-5 D2 TOTAL: 0-3 FBS, 10-22 FCS, 10-6 D2 PS…it’s still terrible, but wanted to clarify.

You’re definitely right. Not sure what the beat writer is looking at. The stat came from this story. Here’s the paragraph I quoted that from: Before making his way to the team buses, Willis talked about finding a way to get over the hump. Very seldom have the Lions found a way to do that. They’ve lost 22 of their last 26 against FCS opponents. Their lone victory in 2022 came against a Division II team. They have four more ASUN games.
Shame on me for not double-checking the numbers.

I really hate the excuse of the transition that Willis continually brings up and other fans... Willis continuously blames everything else but himself. This administration was not ready for the D-1 move, and they are setting Football (it's revenue generator) back 10 years.. Other teams that have made the transition figured it out and have a plan
Texas A&M Commerce (FCS in 2022) 1-2 against FCS; Just beat ranked Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, LA Tarleton State (FCS in 2020;Covid year, much worse situation than UNA) - Beat UNA on homecoming; 6-5 in 2021 and now 4-1 in 2022; Announced they are renovating stadium to a capacity of 24,000; Closing the north endzone; Lindenwood (FCS in 2022; Just beat UCA); Adding video board this year; It took UNA 5 years before making 1 renovation to Braly St. Thomas (powerhouse of D3; FCS in 2021 - 7-3) 4-1 in 2022 and just beat Davidson; Articles of them finding land to improve all facilities
All the programs above went to D-1 with an established coach in their program, and all have plans to improve facilities and grow. UNA made no plans to grow facilities until after transition, and they went forward with a first year head coach that hasn't had a winning season against a full FCS schedule.

I’ve said it too many times, but when Bobby retired it made that hire the most important one in our history. Yet they decided to do nothing more than walk down the hall and say “hey Chris, want the job?” It was inexcusable, and the worst possible time to hire an unproven coach. If they want to excuse it with “well it saved us money”, then WE WERE NOT READY FOR THE MOVE. I like what Looney has done so far (with coaches, removing gold from all our uniforms is another dumbass move I am still mad about). I’m hoping he sees your examples of other teams with our same issues who seem to be doing a better job.
