Good afternoon, GerOwl is new to your forum but is not new to the University of North Alabama. GerOwl grew up in Birmingham and dates back to the Tom York days at Florence State Teachers College. GerOwl will be posting this week in order to welcome you once again to Fifth Third Bank stadium 🏟 this weekend. Zion Katina, #65 is the starting offence lineman for the Owls, Zion is a senior and is a preseason all ASUN selection. Zion has a famous family...his dad and four uncles are the (Katinas). They are originally from the coastal area of American Samoa, today they live in Nashville, TN. In order to connect you a little better to the KSU Owls football team please allow GerOwl to post a sampling to some of their music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-xXOASvmLwY'all that are coming to the game, please have a safe trip. We can't wait for Saturday to get here. FYI....we love your "Pride of Dixie" marching band. FYI...The "Marching Owls" have almost 300 in their band so the afternoon will be filled with entertainment. I was coming, but our coaches is the reason for our record. And I'm not going to another game until that cancer is destroyed. KSU fans don't even realize what our program is supposed to look like, and frankly, I'm embarrassed that y'all have to see it in person Saturday. I will be attending the JSU game the next Saturday, cause, well, if a miracle can happen, it's against those asses. I have not had the pleasure of KSUs band, but the Pride of Dixie is the best in the country.

Disappointed 😥 that the "Pride of Dixie" band isn't coming to the game Saturday. GerOwl, his wife JanOwl, and the entire KSU stadium crowd enjoyed your band's halftime performance last time they visited KSU's stadium. "The Marching Owls" inaugural season occurred in the Fall of 2015. The ensemble consists of of members from every major on campus, including the Marietta and Kennesaw campuses. Students perform a music and marching audition each year, ensuring the most prepared students earn a position in the ensemble each season. This allows our performances to be at the highest collegiate level possible. With a maximum of 300 members, our ensemble includes a feature twirler, colorguard, and drumline with marching cymbal line. This year the "Marching Owls" band has very close to 300 band members. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMuOCnKK7Z4The Marching Owls, in the fourth quarter of each home game, play this song..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxWO_MCqt54Also, last time the Owls and UNA played each other the score was very close. Even though the Owls won the game , it could have gone either way. GerOwl isn't into predicting the score of games...GerOwl hopes that the score will be close and the Owls will win. Y'all have a "Lovely Day" and we hope many UNA fans will be in the stadium Saturday. We also hope that KSU & UNA continue to play each other year after year.

The band is not going to Kennesaw. Do we know why the band isn't traveling much? I was disappointed that they weren't at the Chattanooga game. I suppose like all things the answer is "money". How many road games did they average making back in the D2 days? Just wondering if this is a new development. Are pep bands a thing in FCS? Even if a quarter of the POD were to make the trip, seems it would be welcomed by the team and the fans that make the trip.

This KSU fan is disappointed that KSU didn't send their entire band to Jacksonville State Saturday. It's probably a money situation since the Marching Owls are such a new thing for KSU (only been in existence for about 8 years). I can remember when TV use to show the full Alabama Million Dollar band halftime performance. Those were the good old days. GerOwl mentioned Tom York and his days at Florence State Teachers college. Most of your older alumni remembers Tom. For those of you who don't here is his obit in the Birmingham News. www.al.com/life/2021/08/legendary-birmingham-tv-morning-show-host-tom-york-dies.htmlAlso, just a note to let you know that the KSU Owl 🦉 Howl fan forum page has been attacked by SPAM. The webpage administrator is working on it. Thanks and look forward to seeing a large UNA fan base at te game Saturday. Safe travels to all.

GerOwl has so many good memories of Florence State and now the University of North Alabama. Football at UNA has a long history of great teams and great coaches. Here is one great UNA coach that most KSU fans either don't know about or have forgotten he was at UNA. GerOwl will be sure to remind them this week. www.al.com/sports/2011/12/terry_bowden_leaving_north_ala.htmlQuestion ....what was the name of the fine downtown Florence department store 40s, 50s & 60s?

You may be talking about "Rogers". It was a local store in a beautiful art deco building on Court Street (and is still a beautiful building, just split between different tenants). Rogers actually existed well into the 90s and may not have closed until the first few years of the 2000s, can't remember exactly. They had a second store in the Muscle Shoals mall that closed around 2007. I always associate Rogers with Christmas. I guess that's when we went there the most. They would put a giant lighted Christmas tree on their roof. When I think of downtown Florence in the late 80s (when I was a kid), I think of the Christmas tree on the Rogers roof and the LED Coca-Cola billboard on South Court Street.

Thank you unafied for answering my question. I am so glad to know that Rogers Dept. Store lasted into the 1990s. I have so many wonderful memories of that beautiful store. I found the following information about Rogers Dept. Store on the Internet....it gave me information I never knew...click on the link and enjoy the read. kristentbriggs.wordpress.com/downtown-businesses/rogers-department-store/Only a few more days until KSU & North Alabama take the field...Bring a sweater along, because after the sun goes down it will be a little chilly inside the Owls small, but pretty, Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

Just a "heads up" to let y'all know that the KSU "Owl Howl" fan forum administrator is working on fixing the SPAM problems. If you would like to check it out here is the link to do so. Hoping that he will make the decision to start using the same fan forum set up that North Alabama, Jax State, and Samford use. In my humble opinion what y'all use is the best. ksuowlhowl.flarum.cloud/d/261-forum-future-spamThanks....looking forward to seeing, possibly meeting some of y'all Saturday. I will be sitting in section 130, visitors side, very close to where the North Alabama seating section is. Have a safe trip.
