The coaches picking us last is... not great. Doesn't seem the others have much respect for our team. I really don't think a last-place finish is acceptable in Year 5.
Hopefully we're being highly underestimated.

Roster has a lot of new faces, hard to know what to expect? Hoping we have some talent on offense to go with Ortiz this year. I do look forward to the start of the season, just hope it’s not as disappointing as last season.

Anybody attending this? Make sure to avoid wearing GOLD, since that is no longer a color of ours!

Looks like we’ve added some height inside from two international students transferring from Wyoming (one of them from a two year school there). The 6-11 guy is from Ireland. gowyo.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/eoin-nelson/7132

Due to covid year, I believe a Junior could be a senior. They list Soucie as a Sophomore, but this is his 3rd year just as one example. I'm excited for this team to shock some of the ASUN. They will rely on guard play, and they could have a dynamic duo in Johnson and Ortiz. Biggest question on the team is the front court transfers. We really need both to play well to have a successful season.

I’m not expecting much there, so hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised. Soucie or someone else has to be a reliable scorer to help out Ortiz. I don’t think KJ has really done that much in his career. That’s ok, you can have a guy who’s more inclined to direct traffic and play good D. You just have to have some guys around him that can produce points. The most important thing is to clean up the CONSTANT unforced errors we seemed to make last year. Take away some of the terrible fouls and turnovers we had last year, and we probably win a few more games. That horrible Central Arkansas game at the very least.

I’m very excited about KJ Johnson joining the team. He contributed a lot to Lipscomb his first two years. Two-time Mr. Basketball K.J. Johnson transferring from Lipscomb to North Alabama Johnson, a 6-foot-3 guard from Marshall County and a two-time winner of Mr. Basketball in Class AA, announced his transfer on Twitter. Johnson, who averaged 34.8 points as a high school senior and 34.1 points as a junior, was recruited to Lipscomb by former Bisons coach Casey Alexander, who is now at Belmont. Johnson made the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team in 2019-20 when he averaged 11.2 points after starting in 16 games. After becoming a fulltime starter as a sophomore he was Lipscomb's second-leading scorer (13.5 points) and second leading 3-pointer shooter (28-of-72). Johnson's playing time dropped this season (21.1 minutes) when he started in 19 of 33 games and averaged 6.7 points, which was seventh on the team. www.tennessean.com/story/sports/2022/03/20/mr-basketball-k-j-johnson-transferring-lipscomb-north-alabama/7115985001/

The stats show he’s more of a scorer than I was thinking, or at least he was his first 2 seasons. What happened last year? Slowed by injuries maybe?

Season opens against Oakwood tomorrow night. Anybody planning on going?
I’ll be watching. I know we all hate these NAIA matchups, but hopefully we can get a better idea of what we have this year.
Editing to add that I just realized the women also play tomorrow… at 11AM. Wow. It’s at Flowers as well, against D2 Christian Brothers. Probably won’t be able to watch that one since I’ll, you know, be at work.

Heck, invite as many schools as you can. If the kids enjoy it, no reason not to. It might help build up a future fanbase.
