I don't know if you noticed, but their own reply to that tweet says KSU will be an FCS independent. That makes me wonder, did they see the conference's treatment of JSU and decide to just bail a year early? For the record, I had no problem with the conference saying JSU couldn't be champion, considering they had more scholarships to give. But didn't they say at first they WOULD be eligible to be champs? So perhaps KSU is sticking up for JSU here? Just a thought. Wonder who KSU fills their schedule with...

They are going to play as an FCS independent next season per FBSchedules. Looks like simultaneous posts. FBSchedules shows road games with Jax St, Chattanooga, Tenn Tech and Charleston So. Home games with Furnan and Tennessee St so far.

Waiting on the usual suspects on the other board comment on the fact this will be a single sport conference as of Jan 1.

My suspicion has been we play FCS this year, FBS transition 24 and 25, full FBS 26. 2026 is the year the new CFB contract is supposed to start.

One thing I've heard today, West Georgia may be moving to the ASUN...
Also hearing the Railsplitters are coming too...

One thing I've heard today, West Georgia may be moving to the ASUN... Also hearing the Railsplitters are coming too... UWG would be a natural replacement for KSU. But would they come without Valdosta? Or better yet, would Valdosta let themselves be left behind? I've just always seen the two of them as a package deal. Then again, UWG is probably in a better position to jump to FBS. VSU may see that as a step too far. Lincoln Memorial is the Railsplitters, right? I know they were mentioned within the last few years. Might be a good rival for EKU in Olympic sports.

Here's another thought/concern I had this morning. If there is a timeline for us to be FBS in 2024, and IF the NCAA keeps the supposed "attendance must average 15,000" rule (which is very often not enforced, to be fair)... you would think there would have to be some sort of news on a stadium soon. I guess we could ultimately continue in Braly by adding 1000 temporary seats to get around the rule, but I just really cringe at the thought of Braly hosting FBS games. At least not without some serious overhauling.
Of course, I know there still isn't a whole lot of concrete info out there about timelines and how (or even if) this whole plan will work. But a stadium plan is more important to me, anyway. I really hope we hear some sort of update this offseason.

As far as UWG and VSU, I was told a few months ago that VSU decided to stay in D2, again. For some reason, they just can't make it work. On the surface they look like they could do it, but I don't know how things there really are. Maybe they are looking at their fan support and worried? I know the community don't support them like they should, more go to the high school games. UWG, I think will work out, not my first choice, but oh well. Maybe this will cause UWF to follow suit? Speaking of UWF, why not? You got 4 other Florida schools in conference, UNA to the north. Not to mention all the non con possibilities for them that they can drive to.

There is speculation that the attendance average will go away, mostly due to even P5 schools are dropping in average attendance. So it's understandable for a non P5 to come up short. As far as I know, the plan is to build the stadium, when it's announced is another story. I've heard several different thing, 1, waiting on the FBS thing. 2, trying to decide the actual seating capacity. 3, trying to secure a corporate sponsorship. (The waiting on FBS thing is not baring on if a stadium is built, but how big. Since there has not been a change in the rule yet)

As of today, getting word that Tampa is also on the hook...
So far I'm hearing UWG, LMU, and Tampa
If so, they would replace JSU, Liberty and KSU.

Great stuff, Brandon.
So the ASUN returns to being a southeastern Olympic sport conference, with emphasis mostly on the I-75 corridor. The hybrid WACSUN will handle all football, likely with its own commissioner or board or what have you (I'm not sure how single-sport conferences are generally run).
I think what the ASUN accomplishes is having a pretty good footprint of schools IF the football schools do eventually break away to be an all-sports conference with the WAC-7. Which I can certainly see happening down the road when FBS money has infused some extra cash and allowed travel budgets to rise sufficiently.
