Welp, moving on post-Starkville.
The Lions travel to face NAIA University of Virgin Islands this Saturday. Next weekend, UNA will participate with Liberty in the ASUN/MAAC Challenge down in the Orlando area. The Lions will face Manhattan on Friday night and Rick Pitino's Iona squad on Saturday night.

We have played UVI before... It's a shame that they are not D1. Don't know much about them, but it would be cool to have them in the ASUN as an Eastern Hawaii type deal. May not be cost effective for the rest of the conference, but a nice recruiting tool.

The Lions are hot so far down in Montgomery. UNA has 10 threes in the first half vs Alabama State. The Lion are up by 16.

Glad other players are stepping up when Blackmon has an off day. This makes you feel better about the rest of the season. Good win.

Our defense was impressive tonight. Our ability to create turnovers was impressive. Our ability to possess the ball on offense was not so impressive as we had over 20 turnovers in one game? Yuck. We cut those in half and this game doesn’t get as close late. We had a couple of major scoring droughts. I was glad to see us shooting layups late instead relying so heavily on perimeter shooting. The three or four layups late sealed the victory.

Thank God we can play defense.

Just home from church and was hoping to catch the end of the game. We’re the balls over inflated? Maybe the rims got cold? Final score is almost a halftime score…
I bet we didn’t want to show Auburn our offensive abilities. Doesn’t look like we showed them anything. I will take the win, I realize A&M appears to be down in basketball this year, but it’s still a win. Hopefully the time off before going to Auburn will help.

Tennessee and Texas Tech went to OT last night tied at 44. Talk about “defense” or terrible shooting and ball control. I haven’t been able to watch tonight’s game but glad we won!

I guess "bad nights" just happen sometimes. Defense has been consistently good, at least. Though our level of competition hasn't been the greatest. I'd rather save the hot shooting for the Auburn game, if I could have a choice.
Daniel Ortiz led us again with 12 points. It's early, but I could see him being a contender for ASUN freshman of the year. The kid is good. He's hit double digits in points in all but three games.

Bruce Pearl, known cheater that he is, will be sitting out Tuesday's game at Auburn due to... you guessed it, cheating. He's on a two-game suspension as part of penalties the NCAA handed down today.
I'm not saying this means we'll win, but... hey, has to increase our chances at least a little, right?

I hope we play our best offensive game…then we will stay respectable maybe? Auburn may have the most talented roster in college basketball this year? Auburn is young but have steadily been improving, not a great sign for us tomorrow. I am going to watch with my dad, Auburn alum. I may not enjoy the game, but will enjoy the company. We need to get Kessler away from the goal on defense and then slash for layups with all our guards. Contested 3’s will make for a long night for us.

Get a chance go to Auburn.247sports and read free article on Bruce Pearl discussing AU/UNA. Pearl gives UNA very high accolades, great publicity for our program. Kudos to AU for rescheduling us after Covid messed up last years schedule. I hope everything Pearl said happens tonight for us…would be great.

Well, only 27 points for the Lions in the first half. But they’ve held the Tigers to just 32 points.
