I've had a couple of people tell me something is about to happen at UNA in athletics. Though they would not, or could not tell me what.
Has anyone heard anything?

Good or bad? This sounds somewhat concerning...

Wouldn't say bad depending on where you stand on it. Sort of expected to be honest. The announcement should come within the coming days

Finally some movement on the new stadium? I wouldn't get my hopes up on that. Shorter term news here.

Didn't sound like it would just effect 1 sport, sounded like the athletic department as a whole.
List of possibilities in my head (and it could be none, so dont say I said something that didn't happen)
JSU announces they are joining the ASUN (not likely)
The ASUN announces expansion and football?
The new stadium is on the agenda along with the new baseball stadium?
A new AD?
New conference?
New offense? Lol... had to throw that in.
New sport? (Mens soccer and women's Lacrosse could work, would help in getting the new stadium done sooner.)
Dont think it will just be that we are not playing in the Spring. It seemed more substantial than that. But they could be overreacting as well.

Well we definitely have time before our next sporting event....maybe some fund raisers are coming back? Maybe there is going to be a hype man and a hype woman? Maybe we have access to another gym? How in the world will volleyball and both basketball teams be able to schedule practice and games?

I noticed Coach Wallace was in some of the HoF ceremony photos over the weekend.
Not that it has anything to do with this but it piqued my interest. Then, you mention this.

On this board is the first of have heard of this if it includes the entire athletic department. My guess could be one of the following. 1. Cancel the Winter and Spring Sports. Got approval From the NCAA and wouldn’t loose a year of transition steps. 2. Transferring to another Conference starting July 2021 with approval of the ASUN Conference. 3. The schools that were involved in that UAC concept back in the early spring have found a way to start a new conference and it would be started in a few years. 4. Because of the COVID-19 crisis, drop back down to Division 2.

It would be nice if the NCAA just said that we have met all requirements early and let us compete for playoffs and championships a year sooner. From what I'm told, the transition is to help you get to full D1 scholarships and RPIs, as far as I know, we have done that.

UNA couldn’t afford to go back to D2...school would likely close. Really the next big announcements I am interested in hearing about is new baseball stadium, followed by the new football stadium. It takes about 3 years to build a football stadium, or in UNA’s case the lifetime of your football program. I am hoping we are just continually putting money aside for the stadiums. What a draw UNA would have for people to come visit the new stadium. We can’t afford not to build them, our future in D1 relativity depends on it. Recruiting would be a lot better off. My girls could enjoy it when they go to school there, only a freshman in high school, which should give UNA plenty of time.
