The question undoubtedly crosses everyone's minds from time to time. And it has mine as well. So just doing some quick looking, I came up with, the (current) ASun may be the best overall option regardless. These are 2019 numbers, but I think it tells a telling story.
Conference earnings from NCAA in 2019, this is for 6 years, not to mention previous years compiled and future seasons projected. So this money is only earned in 2019 and will be given for 6 years in a row.
Conferences
ASUN- $3,363,600
Other notable conferences in this tier A-10, MAC, SoCon, Mountain West, Big West
Conferences that earned less Big South CAA C-USA Sun Belt Southland SWAC
They all earned $1,681,800
Note, conferences that play FCS football get a little over 200k per year to split among football schools. (So UNA gets that cut as well) and conferences that play FBS get that 200+ and Bowl tie in money.
The OVC had a better year than recent norm, it earned $6,727,200, but they are also splitting it more ways.
I also see basketball in the ASUN getting much stronger in the years to come.
