Our 2019 schedule is listed here. Not sure how "official" it is but thought I'd share. fbschedules.com/ncaa/north-alabama/I'm not a big fan of those Thursday night games to begin Labor Day Weekend before school starts. Yet, I'm excited for DI games in Braly! I think we could be 4-2 going into the bye week.

I really don’t want to be negative, but I don’t like that AT ALL. I guess it’s a ploy to get the Bama and Auburn fans to attend, but Thursday games usually draw less if I’m guessing. Maybe it’ll work, but I prefer Saturday night. Someone change my mind.

Less competition on Thursday night for other games/events. We have the opportunity to be one of few games scrolling on the bottom line of ESPN. Better chance of making top ten plays, and getting some extra exposure. Traffic will likely be less on a Thursday night and less crowded in restaurants prior to the game. We want have to wait as long for our season to start.

Less conflict with others in the state. I'll be there regardless so it dint matter to me.

Thursdays have never been big crowd nights for us especially before school even starts. They need to focus on getting alumni out for this game.
On that Saturday, Bama plays Duke in Atlanta and won't be as big of a matchup as they have been opening with while Auburn goes out to Jerry World to meet Oregon in Dallas. Sadly, some folks would potentially stay at home to watch those games instead of showing up for UNA if it was on Saturday. So, I guess it's a wash.

On your second paragraph, that has to be why this is the plan. Do it on Thursday night, even with it historically drawing fewer people, in the hope that the casual fans decide to turn out. They just need to hype the crap out of this to get people to understand this is a huge game. After sleeping on it, I guess I can deal with it. Some of us out-of-towners won't be able to attend, but maybe they think this is simply the best option. My fear is, with the way a lot of our fans are, some won't go because "it's a school night" or some nonsense. But perhaps that will be a minority.

Neither are ideal. I say schedule these games on Saturdays and don't worry about FBS schedules.

Back in 2006 when my daughter was in POD, the first game of season was on Thursday night against Harding if I remember correctly. It drew over 11,000.

Might have been our first home game that year but it was Week 3 of the season. Students were in school. We also drew a lot more in 2006 than we did last season. hardingsports.com/news/2006/9/14/06FB-atUNA.aspx
