We're into the summer doldrums now, so since there isn't much else to talk about, why don't we put together a wish list of things we'd like to see in the new stadium? Let's do it... My realistic(ish) wishes: - All chairback seats, or at least all chairs in the "permanent" stands.
- Good concessions that have local restaurants involved. How about Bunyan's BBQ, a Stagg's hamburger, Miami Ice slushes, etc.? And dare I say it... beer? I mean, we've already partnered with Singin' River once.
- More music from the POD (POL?) during football games instead of Generic PA Hip-Hop Song #3. This is probably sadly more UNrealistic than the others, but still...
- A spot for Leo (or the next lions) to attend football games again that is highly visible. If I'm not mistaken he hasn't attended the past few years, so again, not sure how realistic this one is anymore.
- An easily accessible store for UNA merchandise. We've talked about it on here - the current availability of GOOD quality UNA merch is piss poor. It's still hard to find the new logos a whole YEAR later, and it seems the best spot to actually find stuff is at the Martin's store on Cox Creek, of all places. Have a "Team Store" as part of the stadium and STOCK IT with decent stuff. I'd personally switch to a provider other than Adidas, but I guess that's for another thread.
Slightly more expensive, or perhaps things we could see down the line at some point...
- Redesign Pine Street so that it's more pedestrian friendly, up to or including closing it off during football gamedays. Let folks tailgate out there, have a spot for food trucks or entertainment for kids, etc.
- For that matter, extend activities back down Pine or Court Streets to downtown. Give people a chance to walk between campus and downtown, or, run shuttles on a defined route on gamedays so that people can easily get to both. It will make people happy, and businesses downtown happy as well.
- If the shuttle loops past the new parking deck being built in downtown Florence - great. People can park there and easily shuttle to campus. Or (and?), build the parking deck I've talked about over the existing parking lot behind Flowers and along Circular Road. It can have a direct walkway into the stadium. Heck... line that walkway with statues or memorials. Get people fired up on their walk into the stadium.
That's enough for today. I could probably write a lot more. Curious to hear what all of you think.

As far as stadium design, I wouldn't mind what you posted but with both endzones having seating. It would work well for all sports. And yes, chair backs are a must. The city will dictate if streets can be shut down on game day. I just hope everyone who was clambering (yes, it includes me) about an on campus stadium, shows up, including the majority of the students. Make them have to increase capacity.

Now you have me wondering how much say UNA has in the streets that run through campus. Obviously they’re city streets, but hopefully the city will listen if UNA has ideas. That’s probably the “worst”-looking part of campus. Redesigning that stretch of the road to have a median, trees, etc., would be a huge improvement. And there won’t be a better time to do it.

Well, from from first hand experience, you have to look at things from first responder vision... if you shut down a major road, it leaves residents, businesses and general public vulnerable in emergencies having to detour on longer routes or more narrow or crowded areas. Fire trucks especially are a problem with their size, going down other areas, especially around campus if they don't have to...

Obviously you understand that angle better than me.

Thought I would continue the discussion on this thread rather than make a new one.
I was thinking about how the university has started calling Flowers Hall "The Bank" due to the sponsorship of CB&S. When the new stadium becomes a reality... what nickname will we use? "Bank Independent Stadium" is a mouthful. Obviously "Braly" is a shorter form of the full name. Nicknames or shortened names inevitably happen. Probably can't use "The Bank" or any variation of it with Flowers next door.
I'd say let's name the field after Bobby and just call the whole place "Wallace Field", but the cynical part of me knows that a sponsor will want their name front and center, so I'm not sure they'll go to the trouble of even naming the field.
Not a big fan of the initials either. "BI Stadium", "BIS"? Nah.
Maybe we can just call them "Big Bank" and "Little Bank". I'm sure CB&S wouldn't mind.

You can have nicknames that don't correspond with the actual name...
How about "The Den"?

Was talking to some folks at the game yesterday, apparently they have been told that they are looking at a different option for playing surfaces....
Maybe one of yall can explain more if you know what I'm trying to convey
Apparently, each team that plays in the stadium will have a separate, movable surface. So the baseball field will look like a baseball field, Soccer will look like Soccer and football like football...
What he said was the surfaces can be put on a roll around type deal and easily moved. That way, (A) No interfering lines from other sports, (B) even if a game is going on in stadium, another sport can practice...
Have yall ever heard of this?

I believe arenas where basketball and hockey are shared can do something like that. Obviously it’s different, but probably the same idea in principle. I wonder if sections of the turf literally fold in on themselves? This would be great to have. Seeing highlights from our soccer games is a bit embarrassing since the football lines are on the field. Or pitch, as they say.

I was told today that, while still up in the air, the stadium is most likely to be natural grass...
The reason is for baseball, the difference in the season of college football and college baseball affords us enough time to convert from baseball to football/Soccer and let the new grass establish.
The area the baseball field is currently will be both football and soccer practice field just as it is now.
Still no word on how they will use the current band field, I have heard a possibility of an indoor practice facility.

I know this is an extremely slow and deliberate process, but I do wish occasionally information would be released from the University. Brandon thank you for giving us some insights as we wait to hear news.
