FWIW I'm the guy who will stop watching a game when we are more than 4 points behind because some how I think it's me... I left less than half way in the first half, turned in my key to the hotel, stoped to eat and this is what I see... He better be gone next week... Emotions are getting the better of you. Pujol should not be fired after the turnaround of this season. Most wins in D1 history. Build on this season and hit the portal. Nope

Hell, Waterloo High School could have scored 40 points on EKU....

This time major overachieved this season. Coming in I thought we were doomed with the worst roster in the TP era. Ended up being the best one somehow. Shows how much I know.

D1 record of 15-14. No seniors. They’ll give him another year but that sucked.

Shows how much I know. *AND JUST TO CLARIFY* I’m really meaning that we were so bad outside of our top 3 players that I never thought we’d win 18 games.

I can't decide if I had a horrible or a really good night for something to come up and me not get to watch the game. Seriously, didn't get to see a single second of it, so I won't pretend to have any decent observations. Despite that, I'll type them out anyway.
I think KJ was the on-court leader of this team. My guess is he was still struggling with his ankle last night. If you want to be critical of the staff for not having someone who could step in and adequately take his place, that's fair. But looking at what he alone did up there 2 weeks ago shows why it was important to have him healthy. You can argue this team was potentially 3rd best in the conference if completely healthy. Unfortunately, like Ortiz's rough stretch in the early conference schedule (not sure if that was an injury but still), a rough stretch by one of our starters was enough to make us look no better than about 10th best.
So yeah. Can't blame the coaching staff for an injured player. But you can certainly criticize for not having better depth or being able to scheme your guys some ways to overcome adversity. EKU is a better team than us, but shouldn't have been 25 points better.
I don't think there's any chance we see a coaching change unless Pujol leaves on his own. I'm willing to see if he can build on this year. The #1 priority is to not lose any of the top 6 in the rotation to the portal. If he can do that and add a quality player or two, we SHOULD be near the top of the conference next year (especially with Liberty and KSU leaving).

Agree with assessment. Injuries cause a big issue if with impact players. The other part is UNA didn't shoot nearly as well as a couple weeks ago.

Yeah I'm sure y'all were part of the reason for that, but you can't score 48 points and expect to win a high school game, let alone a college tournament game. We finished the season horribly, counting the last 3 games. No way to sugarcoat it. I'm pulling for y'all to win the conference now. Definitely don't want to see KSU or Liberty win it on their way out the door.

I only watched till we got behind 24 points and then found something else to watch for about an hour. Came back to find the deficit about the same. What I saw and what I concluded: EKU came out with a game plan to avoid what happened the last time we faced them. Meaning, they pressed and played hard aggressive D from the get go. You have KJ trying to get his groove back, from his layoff, Lane in early foul trouble and presto a team that can't find it's mojo. We got down by a lot in a hurry. These were probably two evenly matched teams once UNA made proper adjustments. I say this because we lost by 25. Only one point worse than when I went Channel surfing. So I figure getting popped in the mouth, at the start made the difference. We had a young team this year, no seniors for senior night for crying out loud. A couple of good pickups and this team could be pretty tough to handle next year. As for Pujols, I'm not ready to throw in the towel on him. It wasn't all laid out for him on a silver platter when he took over. Not comparing him to Kryzewski, but that fellow had a disastrous start and look what the future brought. Pujols did much better than many expected this year.

God I hope Daniel, KJ and Jacari stay.

Those guards are important, but Forrest probably showed the most growth. He had some low post moves this year. Going from 0 to two moves that were solid is great for low post. He also had some very strong rebounding games. If he build off this season and continue to improve, I like our team next year. Yes Howell needs to be a little more consistent, shows flashes. Nelson was very very raw, but played some big minutes at home against Lipscomb battling on the defensive end. Growth there could pay huge dividends. If Kuhl adjust to speed of the college game and finally breaks through with that awesome warmup shooting in the actual game, well we will be difficult for anyone. Thought our perimeter defense and inability to rebound the ball on either end against JSU was alarming and concerning. Soucie plays with a lot of heart, but not sure his vertical is in double digits? He is 6’5” and has break away opportunities and you shoot a layup? 6’5” on a break away I start yelling before I leave the ground and as I hammer home the slam I get a little louder. Ever here a tall guy yell on a layup….me neither. We have a lot pieces, hope the chemistry in the off-season is a good one. These guys hang and get better together, we will have a good year, maybe great year?

Commentators mentioning how much bigger KSU is than Liberty.
We need to pick up some size in the off-season. Not just height.
