Looks like you can watch the game on ESPN3. Would be pretty cool to win a tournament…something we haven’t experienced in far too long. Roar Lions!

Dropped one we should’ve won tonight. Disappointed.

Dropped one we should’ve won tonight. Disappointed. We definitely should have won this game tonight. But, I'm glad UNA was invited to this! Another chance tomorrow to make some noise if they could knock off Iona!

Pathetic on offense. These guys are college players. I went and watched Vestavia Hills play Hartselle tonight in Basketball. Reese Gurner put up 32 points by himself. He scored outside or inside, was impressive to watch. He may end up at Lipscomb or UAH. Why don’t we want players from big schools that can dominate a game? Frustrating. I really expected us to win. Guess we do not run an offense that is hard to slow down or stop. Also sounds like our bigs are not capable of scoring from the post….could make for a long year if we don’t find someone other than Blackmon to make shots.

I watched all of it and it was pretty close. Down to the wire on who would win. Both teams turned it over like middle school teams, tbh. At times, neither could hit the broad side of a barn. It was just that kinda game. For me, to see UNA playing an established D1 team really competitively was nice. The win would have been even better. We could have easily gotten this with a bit more experience on the floor (ie. I still hate the transfer portal).

Guess I am ready for us to be like a Samford team, who we beat not too long ago. Samford goes to Oregon State and gets the win. We play Manhattan and can’t score 60 points in one game? The transfer portal is annoying, do we win with two players that transferred out this year…more than likely? Hoping that will not be as big of an issue with opportunities to win championships and go to the dance.

Hoping that will not be as big of an issue with opportunities to win championships and go to the dance. You may know this, but Samford hired Bucky McMillan a few years ago. He racked up a bunch of state titles at Vestavia High School in Birmingham. Always a questionable move to hire a high school guy, but he was so successful, it’ll be interesting to see if he can do it on the college level. I’d sure love to see us on ESPN pulling off one of those big upsets. Manhattan isn’t a great team. They were predicted to finish 7th in the MAAC, out of 11. For comparison, Iona is picked to win the conference. It’s easy to say, “we need scorers”. It’s certainly true. Just seems we have nobody to turn to when we need a basket in the clutch.

Make that 19! Liberty only has 26 points with 13 mins left in the game.

Second half has been all Gaels. Pitino recruits a lot of international players. We should start to emphasize this in all sports especially the Olympic sports.

Like that we are athletic, wish were athletic and could also shoot the basketball. We struggle to make shots. We may have to change our offensive philosophy and actually adopt one? Sigh…also we did not defend well today. Iona up to this point is 9-13 from downtown. Too many open looks.
