Youngblood isn’t dressed. Is he injured?

Hey, Virginia won a national championship playing defense, so…
I do love the mental toughness of this team. Win or lose in this one, I’m starting to think we can perform better than expected in conference play.
But hey… let’s get hot in the second half and win this thing.

Youngblood isn’t dressed. Is he injured? Back issues, I think? His minutes have been limited the last two games, at least. Hope whatever’s nagging him can be healed with some rest over the next couple of weeks.

I really have a problem with us not getting set before we shoot. It's been a problem for years...

Get set against AU height you may eat it. Our youth showed tonight we our guards making awful decisions in first of 2nd half. We didn’t pass the ball enough to win in the 2nd half. Our guys showed some abilities. Wish Blackmon was making shots, he is way too streaky. 11 played soooo hard. 2 has a chance to develop into a strong player along with 34.

Well, if comparing scores means anything (it doesn't really), we gave up 14 fewer points to Auburn than our next big opponent (UCF) did. UCF also scored 24 more against them than we did, but who's counting?
Like so often with this team, there's a lot of good, and a lot of bad. Of course playing a team full of 5-stars helps to emphasize the bad. We held our own pretty well when it came to the boards, but you can't turnover the ball 18 times against Auburn. It's kind of ridiculous that we had ZERO free throws in the second half, but it is what it is. An SEC team in their place will get the calls 100% of the time.
Another home game against an NAIA team (I think?) Saturday at 2PM. The schedule says it's "Youth Sports Day". I should've planned on being in town to let my 6 year old be there, but unfortunately we have other plans. But if you're in Florence, tell a friend. And tell them to tell a friend. These guys need and deserve our support.

We had the lead for a minute 33-31, then they tied it and we throw some shots up from the perimeter that hit the goal but that’s about it and they go on an 8-0 run. We missed a lot of wide open looks. I wish 34 was that open, think he knocks those down. Our guards don’t make many threes open

I started watching with about 10 mins left in the game and it was fun to watch for a while! Could have made it a one possession game several times down the stretch but then went cold from the floor.

Well even 34 missed three wide open looks. We played with a lot of heart. We just don’t have anyone that can make open shots yet.

I watched bits and pieces, as me and my kids are all different forms of “sick” right now, though thankfully it doesn’t seem to be covid. I was laying in bed most of last night.
We aren’t a BAD team, for sure. But it’s frustrating that we can’t seem to win a non-conference game against a D1 school that isn’t in the SWAC. Samford, for example, beat Ole Miss a few days ago. Sure would be nice to win one we aren’t supposed to.
For conference play, we really need to get Youngblood back to being healthy and playing significant minutes. If we can do that, I feel pretty good about our chances at finishing in the top half.

I think it's just a matter of getting over the hump for this team. They know they are good. A win against UCF, which I think is a pretty equal team to UNA, would have done wonders in confidence of our team. It would have also done a lot for our program in general. Don't have any realistic chances left before conference play though. It would be nice to knock off Gonzaga but that's easier said than done.
I do think the basketball program is on the right track though.

Off topic, one thing I think is funny, I was reading a North Texas forum and they was talking about conference expansion and someone brought up UNA....
One guy said, heck no, we don't need a bunch of directional schools in FBS...
