The ladies actually got it going late last year before spring sports were shut down. The men just can’t quite put it together. I like coach Bishop, think he can do the job. I also concur with unalions on where to recruit, need to land some players from Europe where Tennis is bigger than most sports. Tennis seems to be growing here in the US. My family was at the Pelham Frostbite Invitational last weekend to watch my oldest play. We had a lot of fun watching teams from McGill Toolen to Muscle Shoals and everyone in between battle. 25 courts constantly being played for 2 straight days. We had a blast. The teams were all wore out by the end, but what an experience.
Side commercial. Bought the Go Warmer from As Seen on TV section in Walmart. Great investment for $15. Really puts off good heat for your hands.

Not saying this to offend anyone, because I dont care one way or another, I dont really care about the sports I will mention...
Do we really need tennis? Or could we drop it and replace it with Mens soccer and women's Lacrosse?
Do people go watch tennis at UNA? Seriously, I drove by a match one day, the only people there was coaching and playing.

I don't think you'd have to drop tennis to add those two. Tennis has very few players compared to those types of squads. For example, we have 7 men's tennis players and 8 women on the teams. Lipscomb men's soccer has almost 30 players.

But, I would like to see us add Mens soccer, but with the rules, I'm sure we would have to add a womans sport so why not Lacrosse. Both seem pretty popular these days. I know people tend to show up to our women's soccer matches.

I "hear" that lacrosse is a growing sport, though obviously it doesn't have a lot of presence in north Alabama. But with the ASUN beginning to sponsor the sport, I'm at least intrigued by the thought of us doing it. I've thought for a while we should start hockey since a.) UAH needs some competition in the southeast, and b.) the Predators have probably somewhat increased the number of people in the area that know something about the sport. My wife enjoys it, so we went to a Huntsville Havoc game a few years ago, and the VBC was packed. Of course, having a team would be a LOT more expensive than a tennis team. And we'd no doubt have to add at least two women's sports to go along with it. Plus, the pesky issue of having nowhere to play... Anyway, sorry for getting off-topic. I'm glad we beat JSU! Good to win against the chickens in any sport.

There are also club and kid leagues. When the ASun gets football in order and turns their sites on olympic sports opportunities, they would do well to take a gander at UAH.

I'd like for UNA to look into it *if* the money is there one day to add a sport. If lacrosse is huge in 10, 20, or 30 years, it would be great if we were one of the first D1 programs in the region and already had a history.

Tennis fell right in line with other spring sports. Got drilled in the opening round of the tournament. Yuck.
