We are sneaking up on the final signing day. I know the coaches liked getting the spring in early last year and would think maybe that is the approach? I haven’t heard anything about our spring football practices or hopefully ongoing winter workouts. Right now is when your offense and defense determine their success in the fall. Put in the work, be stronger from fall to spring and focus on chemistry and execution. Hope all that is happening, seems quieter on the football news lately?

10 FCS games this weekend. What games are you watching? Watched SDSU vs UNI last night. Wanted to watch someone we will play in the fall or a soon to be ASun conference mate. JSU is postponed and not sure of our fall schedule yet (Tuesday will cure that). So, since ETSU was a dark horse rumored potential stable mate, well I reckon to watch them and Samford.

I hope our team and staff are watching this NDSU game and can watch a lot of MVFC football this spring.

NDSU plays incredibly disciplined football. Whatever athleticism they have gets augmented by good coaching and fierce competitive drive. For UNA to imitate would require the program's culture to shift from being "top down" to "all in" at every level.

NDSU getting blown out. Wow.

Yeah, I really didn’t see NDSU going down to Southern Illinois, and certainly not in a blowout. Makes you wonder if it’s just the weirdness of the spring schedule, or if they have dropped off a bit from years past.
Gardner-Webb upset Elon yesterday, who was ranked #24 I believe. That’s a good look for the Big South.
Kennesaw beat Shorter 35-3. I would’ve honestly expected that to be a higher score.
Chattanooga beat Wofford yesterday 24-13. Wofford was ranked around #11 and are the defending SoCon champs. The Mocs have been so up and down in recent years, I didn’t really know what to expect from them. Even though I live here, I don’t pay as much attention to them as I probably should. I’m still salty with them about cancelling the game against UNA here in town in the fall. Hope we beat the brakes off of them at Braly this fall.
Jacksonville State will be playing Tennessee Tech today.
I think UNA opting out of the spring was the right choice, but I’m still a little jealous of the teams that are playing.

North Dakota has joined the MVFC this year and beat #3 South Dakota State yesterday, too. Gonna be an interesting FCS season.

I believe this year is the quietist spring football season I can remember? Either we have a chance to be pretty good or we stink? I guess with all the sports playing so close to the same time, practice season takes a back seat. I was hoping for some practice news. Guess watching the game will be my only shot at it.

Notes from today’s practice, as seen from the other side of the street...
The defensive line lives in the offensive backfield. I’d love to say that’s because the DL is so good. It seems more accurate to say that the OL either does not execute or lacks physicality/quickness. As a result, it is hard to tell how good the skill players are. They looked fine in Indy drills. But will the offensive units gel?
D seems thin at CB.
Special teams coach values repetition over actual instruction. Kicking more doesn’t equal kicking better. Those guys will have dead legs for the spring game.

How important is winning each play so your RB/QB can do their job?? The lineman we had in the 90’s were mean and physical. Let’s get back to that!

I will not be able to attend the Spring game. Last year it was on Facebook right? Does anyone know if there will be a way to pull it up this weekend and watch it? I really feel like North Alabama wins the game. I did notice Byrd decided not to play or the coaches didn’t mention his name on the video.

I don't know if I dreamt this or I actually heard that it would be on ESPN+? Last I hear Byrd is out.
