Building the Stadium will happen, so I'm told... Can't tell me the timeline.

The issue at the moment is to what capacity the stadium needs to be initially...
Now they are talking about the same general design but with 20k+ seats.
Apparently the number of fans interested in the last JSU game has them thinking maybe they need it to be bigger.

Has the possible location been narrow down?

I still tend to think a 12,000 to 15,000 capacity would be sufficient. The important thing is to have a.) suites that bring in additional revenue, and b.) more comfortable seating, especially for season ticket holders. I think players would rather play in a packed stadium that's maybe a little on the smaller side, versus a larger stadium we struggle to fill up for anyone other than JSU. Considering we have struggled to ever break an average of 10k per game, if *only* having 15,000 seats is a problem in a few years, I'd consider that a very good thing.
What's extremely important is to make sure the stadium is easily expandable by another 10k to 15k seats. And if any money can be set aside in case that's needed, that would be great.
I'd prefer it to be on-campus... but really, I just want a stadium at this point. I'd take it being just about anywhere.

Just because the open endzone area can be counted for a ticket sale and added into the total capacity of the stadium. You also got to remember the goal of the ASUN and WAC in genera. We will discuss that on another thread... But if FBS is a thing, 12k ain't gonna happen.

I still miss playing golf at McFarland sometimes. I get that it's a river plain and flooding is what happens, but it was just a fun course. A lot better than the one that replaced it, anyway. Say they wanted to build a stadium on the old golf course. I wonder how much they'd have to raise the ground to get it out of, say, the 500 year flood zone? That's the only way to make it work, I would imagine.

I was thinking it was campgrounds or something. Maybe it's both? I think the disc course at Veterans is the only one I've ever played. Back when I was a kid, and it was called Point Park.

And there is plenty of wooded area that could be used instead of messing up anything already in the park. On GameDay it would be a nice tailgating area.

I had one important person mentioned to me over 3 years ago that his first choice for a Stadium would be Veterans Park. He would be a person that if the decision was made today would have a vote on the decision. My concern would be would TVA approve it.

Despite all this talk about using parks or other land around the city, I really hope one of two things happens...
1.) Preferably, we build a football stadium on campus. Unless we can buy out Mitchell Hollingsworth and get them to move their facility to free up more land around campus, I'm assuming it will be squeezed in next to Flowers Hall. That's fine if they can make the dimensions work. Sometimes the best designed/best looking stadiums come from needing to make it unique due to geography. In this scenario, baseball moves out next to the softball facility. I'm not sure where football and the band practices, and soccer plays... perhaps just in the stadium itself?
2.) We build the football stadium off-campus, and then commit to upgrading the existing baseball stadium. In this scenario I'd also consider at least covering the football practice field in some way, perhaps something like what UAB did (you can Google their practice facility to get pics). I'm not sure if that would look great, but maybe a solution could be worked out. I'd also put some sort of effort into making it look like a suitable home for soccer, since using it for that sport the way it is now is embarrassing.
All of that is to say, I would really like to see us have better student attendance in ALL sports. But the more stadiums you build off-campus, the worse your student attendance/engagement in that sport will be. A lot of kids these days don't even want to drive, period. Making things less accessible for them is not the best way to grow our brand. I don't REALLY like the thought of baseball moving to Cox Creek, but if that's what it takes to get football on-campus, I'll be fine with it.
