Jacksonville is struggling and UNA is making shots. We play half as well in the 2nd half and sweep...there it is. Sitting at the top of the conference is great. Sure we got some tough games ahead, but we developing chemistry, we may just surprise.

Seems our men’s and women’s programs have done a complete 180 from the last couple of years. Guess it goes to show you that a little bit of experience for talented players can go a long way. Though to be fair, the ladies have certainly done better in conference play.
For the men, there are eight games to go, all against 2, 3, 4, and 5 in the conference standings. We’ve won five straight. I’m thinking we will need to go 6-2 over that stretch to have a chance for the regular season title. It will be a tough road to hoe, but it’s doable. We probably need to sweep North Florida next weekend since Liberty and Bellarmine both seem to be tough.
What a win tonight, by the way. Regardless of how we finish, I do feel we are getting better as a program and learning HOW to win. It’s encouraging for sure.

Another good win for the women's team. The next month is going to be interesting to watch unfold in the conference. So, will we just not be playing FGCU or will it be rescheduled?

Glad we held home court, hard to believe it took overtime in one game and never was a game the 2nd time? Happy where we are, splitting on the road is tough, sweeping 🧹 on the road is like keeping Tom Brady from reaching the Super Bowl.

I figure both teams were wore out from game one with UNA having the better recovery from getting to sleep in their own beds overnight. Tough to be a road warrior. UNA seems to be coming together real well. Like the flow of a team that plays as one.

I started watching a bit into the first half and held my breath the entire time. Great win for the Lions on the road! We have a good team. Lost a bit of a lead and it was down to the wire, but wow. Nice!
I also like the UNF commentators, especially the female. She's great.

Man, huge to get that win last night. At worst, we will come out of the weekend tied for first with 6 games to play.
The best thing is, we control our own destiny. Those 6 games after this weekend are with the 3 teams behind us in the standings. We’ll have to win at least 1 game against all of them, and just see what happens. If we could beat UNF today and then go 3-3 in February, I actually feel pretty good about at least sharing a conference championship.

Have yall watched any of the other schools play in other games?
Just by my eyeball test, the top 3 schools are
Bellarmine, Liberty, and UNA in no order.
Bellarmine is precise. And has decent talent. The dont make many mistakes. And coaches well.
Liberty isn't last years Liberty. But still has a team full of talent. They do make mistakes though, and sometimes dont show the effort.
UNA, well, we seem to be getting better everytime I watch them. Who would have thought we would be were we are right now? Other than me?
Let's not forget about Lipscomb, they are good too, Asadula is probably the most dominant player in the ASUN and we all know Acuf can coach his but off. And we still got to play them, out closest rival.

Ironically I think Bellarmine is doing the same thing our ladies spent the last two years doing. The best D2 teams are just as talented as a lot of D1 teams, especially in basketball. So they are winning with players that dominated at a lower level. The question is, will they be able to keep getting good players since they won’t be able to sell themselves as a “national championship winning team”. As they are in Kentucky, my guess is they will continue to be tough for years to come, since there is no shortage of good players up there.
Liberty is Liberty. Way better resources than anyone else in the conference. No reason for them not to be at the top.
And with Acuff at Lipscomb they’ll likely continue to be a really solid team. They certainly want to keep up with their biggest rival, Belmont.
I’m getting off topic here, but the ASUN changes the past few days just have me thinking about potential in more than just football. This has the chance to be a really good basketball conference moving forward. With those three teams, us making strides, EKU having potential, UNF, FGCU lurking out there... I think we’ll really have the chance to be a high mid-major conference eventually.
