Hope Dever comes back, if he does we can win this thing. Must get a stop right out the gate from halftime or we may be in trouble. Can tell our dual coordinators got lost on down and clock distance at the end. Wasted timeout on 4th and 7 early was just stupid? You punt and pin them back at 0-0...it’s a no brainer. As bad as offense played and coaches coached on offense we have a chance. Make them cover you deep and then middle of field opens up. Hopefully somebody on the staff will get it.

Christon Taylor back doing his normal things. Such a great player with a terrible mindset.

Christon Taylor back doing his normal things. Such a great player with a terrible mindset. That penalty really hurt. And wasn't necessary at all.

25 cannot play anymore. He did that same stupid crap year before last. Too dumb to play football.

Christon Taylor back doing his normal things. Such a great player with a terrible mindset. 2 touchdowns by Liberty that could have been avoided. I just don’t get Christon Taylor and that’s maybe why he didn’t get looked at by other big schools. He doesn’t have his head on right.

Our offense is horrific. It’s really tough to watch....

I'm proud of our boys - I expected a much worse butt-whipping.
They had no quit in them and played pretty well for a first game of the season.
Think we may actually have a shot vs. JSU.

Can line up and run the football. Defense is stout, held Liberty to lowest output of the year. If the offense could have scored on some of those red zone trips and put a little pressure back on Liberty offense may have been a nail biter. Glad we scored. Driggers looks like a promising athlete. Both of offensive tackles are terrible at pass protection. Ends just ran by them, it high school anymore. I wonder why we didn’t throw back shoulder fade to Boykin around goal line? Boykin is tall and has strong hands? Deep ball was open, quarterbacks couldn’t step into those throws.

Good to be watching UNA football again!! Glad the team got to play up there today. The ASUN Football Game of the Year! Lol.
Obviously, lots to work on for the next two weeks. JSU up 14-0 early on FL State after a Pick 6 and good offensive drive.
The Liberty announcers seemed to hint, as someone on here has mentioned, that UNA may (likely) opt out of the spring Big South season and focus on next fall.

JSU up on FSU 14-0 early.
Hoping that just means the Seminoles are awful this season.

I felt terrible that I'd flipped over to the Bama/A&M game after that mid-4th quarter missed FG for the Lions. I missed the INT and following score! I scolded myself. Or maybe me turning away was what they needed? Lol.
Anyway, I just went back and watched that part of the replay and I'm proud of them. They continued to fight in this game. A lot of 'first game' stuff but they competed well even as Liberty had their backup QB. I hated it for Dever that he didn't get the chance to return. I hope he's able to get his reps vs. JSU. Files played well but was definitely thrown into the deep end after not really playing much since HS in South AL.
The Gamecocks had a great showing but lost against the Seminoles tonight. Both teams playing FBS schools tonight. That's a big difference from that 1992 D2 playoff game as GSC powers.

As expected, the D played tough. The penalty on 25 was indeed unfortunate, but other than that, the D did its job. The D is the reason we beat the spread. The bulk of LU’s points came in the second half, when the D wore down.
Special teams were not at all special. There is talent in that squad, but their performance suggests lazy or bad coaching.
Communication breakdowns hurt the O, especially the line, throughout the game. Although 81’s fumbles stung, his presence in the Wild Lion simplified the tasks asked of the line, and made success more likely. It’ll be an uphill battle against JSU, but I think the team will show improvement on O because they have now had a trial by fire. It starts with better communication and turning the players from kids who follow orders into leaders on the field.

I'll be honest about it,
I think Deavers getting hurt may have been the difference. I know we will never know, but he started for a reason.
Our D was good, but our O has to help take the pressure off the D.
I really have never liked this style of offense, I think UNA would be more well served with a multiple set, pro style offense with some power backs and a fullback.
Overall, I think we have the horses, they just need to be more together.

Upon further review....
After watching the game again, with some calmness and non bias criticism, we did a lot better than I originally thought.
No, we still don't have a running game, but if some stupid mistakes didn't happen and some miss reading in the secondary by Files, we could have very well walked out with a win. (Of course if we started getting momentum, they would have put Willis in and who knows)
Honestly, we didn't look outmatched in any position. In fact, we looked better in some.
I have optimism going forward. We could upset JSU and Southern Miss. I actually think we have a good shot at Southern Miss.
