Other than Hodges not coming back, does anyone know of other players from last year not returning? I have not heard of any opting out or that have left school. I hope we find a way to keep the guys healthy thru the fall. Central Arkansas reported no positive tests after the game. Great news. Any new players that excite you for fall camp? Offense the QB race is intriguing, I think Dever gets the start. The oline should be interesting, wanting to see 6’9” transfer line up. Can he move? Cowins on defense is something, does Taylor returning at linebacker make this defense elite? Can Fields be that presence on the back end with Smith to control the passing game. Bracey will be missed, he flat covered everyone last year. Can Jordan/Green/Singleton or one of the redshirt freshman be the glue at corner? How about our FG kicker? Is it Gurley again?
Roster at roarlions.com has been updated with new players a plenty. Enjoy.

I think Cowins is an NFL prospect...
Maybe a 5th round talent.

We should easily be more talented (and have better depth) in the trenches this year, which is the biggest separator between D2 and FCS teams. So hopefully we no longer "look" like a D2 team in comparison to those around us.
I really want to see a QB take control of the starting job. We have such an outstanding group of receivers, we HAVE to have someone that can get them the ball. If we do, then I feel like our offense will be able to play with anyone. Is Dever the guy? Maybe. Did I miss Reid Herring, the guy from East Carolina, leaving the team? I don't see him listed on the roster at RoarLions.com.
It's a long wait until the JSU game still, but at least it's September now.
Edit: First game is at Liberty, I'm dumb.

I do the roster by position, easier to see additions/subtractions. Reid was not listed in QB room. I forgot about Denby transferring to UNA, we are stacked at running back and receiver....although I do not think Eli Cazola at over 250 pounds is playing receiver. Both lines look deep. Linebacker looks much deeper, secondary is about finding who wants it.

From TimesDaily The Lions are, however, will be short a few players this fall. Graduate transfer quarterback Reid Herring will not be with the team for the rest of the semester. Willis said Herring is working out some personal issues.
Redshirt sophomore defensive back Chase Brown opted out due to COVID-19. Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman David Woodruff decided to give up football.
Lastly, junior running back Jaxton Carson is out with an Achilles injury. Carson and Ja’Won Howell were expected to share the bulk of the carries this season, Willis said.
Starting with quarterback, with Herring not playing, Willis said both senior Blake Dever and redshirt sophomore Rett Files will see action this season. He did not name a starter.

Tough break on Carson, he was coming into his own. Really excited for Howell, he reminds you of Tyrone Rush in his running style. Price and Thompson are there with transfer Denby. I hear good things about Boswell. Should be solid in running back room.
Two solid options at Qb. I think barring injuries we should have some solid passing quarterbacks, not sure either of top two are much of a running threat. Freshman from Danville is a true duel threat. He has a lot of upside.
DB is loaded with talent this year. Singleton really started developing late last year. He and Green plus the new transfers and redshirts...we should be improved there.
Hope the team is as excited about the fall schedule as the rest of us. Roar Lions!

Defense defense defense in the first scrimmage. I hope our offense shows more signs of life in the next scrimmage. Our defense has a chance to be very good. Offense has to develop chemistry and timing. Gots lot of talent, looking forward to all that coming together.

BYU just beat the brakes off Navy. 55-3 WOW.... Well... we may have a shot against Southern Miss... I thought they looked terrible against South Alabama and their coach just resigned.

BYU looks to be a pretty good challenge to be working toward for the end of round one of this 2020-2020 1/2 season.

Maybe BYU has a weakness in the secondary? Navy isn’t going to throw it and we are definitely going to throw it. We will know a lot more in 26 days.

Don’t know if Freeze would take Southern Miss. job? I think his next job will be for a power five school. Hard to tell sometimes...
