Players and coaches have agreed to pause fall practice until August 14th. NCAA hopefully will realize by then it’s fair to make a decision for the players. No decision is the worst decision the NCAA has made to date. We are starting to look more and more like we will be playing spring football......

Things aren’t looking good for fall. As for a spring schedule, I haven’t seen one person in the media explain how we can expect these kids to go through two full seasons in the span of one year. Is that so much “healthier” than playing a regular fall schedule with the small risk of some players contracting a bad case of COVID?
I would also like to know why these college presidents, ADs, or whoever it is pushing for these delays, think the players will be safer from COVID away from the football field. So you take away an activity that takes up a large chunk of 18-22 year old kids’ time... and think they’ll make responsible decisions and NOT the “extracurricular” activities college kids are known for? Yeah, sure.
And this all comes down to the fact that the weak NCAA did absolutely NOTHING to help plan for this season. This virus has been here since March, and we had literally started fall practice without even knowing who we will be playing. It’s pathetic and sad.

Didn't happen. That's why they corrected it. They (coaches and players) decided they shouldn't start practice because of the news they got beforehand, according to the TimesDaily.

Even Coach Willis eluded to it: "If anybody left here (on Saturday) mad or disgruntled, they’re mad at the fact of what’s going on.”

UNA HOPES TO PLAY FOUR-GAME FALL FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama will have the opportunity to play four games on its 2020 fall football schedule, despite the announcement today that the Big South Conference is delaying its fall seasons with the intent of playing in the spring. The Big South Football Members voted to allow up to four non-conference games in the fall at institutional discretion. UNA's current fall schedule would include games against Western Illinois, Jacksonville State, Chattanooga and Brigham Young. While the Big South moved all of its fall sports to the spring, UNA's other 13 sports compete as members of the ASUN Conference and that league has not yet made a determination on its fall seasons. All ASUN schedules were previously pushed back to a Sept. 18 start date. "Our plan is to look at all of our options and hopefully have the chance to play a full slate of games, combining the fall and spring," said UNA Athletic Director Mark Linder. "One of the biggest concerns of our players is not having the opportunity to play a full schedule. This plan provides the ultimate flexibility, to play four non-conference games in the fall and the Big South schedule in the spring." Big South Statement BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE DELAYS FALL SEASONS; TARGETS SPRING
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – With the health and well-being of its student-athletes as its top priority, the Big South Conference announced today it is delaying its fall sports seasons with the intent of playing in the spring. This includes the sports of men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball. Additionally, fall competitions in the sports of men's and women's golf and men's and women's tennis, and out of season competitions in spring sports have been suspended as well. The Big South Football Members voted to allow up to four non-conference games in the fall at institutional discretion. "We are all broken-hearted that we will not be able to provide competitive opportunities for Big South student-athletes this fall," commented Commissioner Kyle Kallander. "However, the path forward must protect the health and safety of our student-athletes, and some of the current trends and unknowns with COVID-19 have made that a huge challenge. Our intention is to shift these fall seasons to the spring as we would like nothing more than to crown Big South champions in all 19 of our sports this year." Big South member institutions may continue with permissible athletics activities, as defined by NCAA regulations and with the exception of fall sport competition, at their own discretion and in accordance with applicable local and state regulations and procedures. roarlions.com/news/2020/8/12/una-hopes-to-play-four-game-fall-football-schedule.aspx

After this week not sure how many teams will still be playing in the fall...very strange. I would hope we could move those four games closer together since everyone has such glaring holes in their schedules...

On the fall schedule - my personal guess is that WIU will eventually cancel their season completely, since the B1G has already done so. I don't think we'll make the trip to Illinois.
We might, MIGHT play the games against JSU and Chattanooga. Obviously it will depend on their conferences allowing for a schedule similar to the Big South.
I'm hoping BYU is able to pick up some games against the Big XII and keeps us on the schedule. If some other conferences play, like the Sun Belt for example, perhaps we can pick up another money game from there (Troy?).
I don't like the idea of a spring schedule, and don't think players playing games in fall 2020/spring 2021/fall 2021 is any "healthier" for them than playing a full schedule this fall. But we'll see.

I agree with you on the health aspect. But you know the players, (if you played) they just want to play no matter what. The coaches were also players, and for the most part, are younger than us, and the AD is going to side on the coaches suggestion. They are going to have sympathy for the players in an unusual circumstance. I dont like the spring season any more than the next guy. And it really sucks for baseball and softball players to have to compete for eyeballs with football. But a spring season is better than nothing. I just hope seniors, if they choose to, get an extra year of eligibility.
