Starts on 9/12/2020. Sucks for Liberty, had Virginia Tech scheduled on 5th. We play Hokies on 19th. Looks good for us keeping that game as long we follow the medical plan that is expected. One of their star defenders opted of the season, Farley, CB. Hope our receivers take advantage.

Honestly, I'm anxious about this entire season - still - and I probably will be until it's over, whenever that is. I watched a bit of them on a replay the other night. It was the first quarter of their game with Miami last season. It looked like it would be a blowout by the Hokies after three straight picks for their defense but, after looking at the final outcome, the Canes came back to make it a very close game.

If we can gain some confidence and momentum by knocking off JSU the week before...maybe we shock the world? I will take a two score loss any day at Virginia Tech. Although I do think our defensive front will surprise their oline. Taylor back gives us an FBS type linebacker. Our receivers must hold onto the ball in this game when trying to make the big play. I am pumped...and yes also a little anxious.

This is one game I've been extremely excited about. I've always wanted to go to watch a game in Lane Stadium. Enter Sandman before the entrance... one of my favorite college football traditions...
Now I wonder if fans will be in the stadium

I just hope we are the one nonconference game. Hopefully we got paid the least so they wanna keep us? Will they be able to keep on 19th? How will the dates look for new Virginia Tech ten game conference schedule? We have couple dates we could play...

Troy was set to play N.C. State on 19th when we played Va Tech. Could be an easy switch and shorter bus ride....

I have read that there will be a push by the ACC to keep the non-conference games essentially as close to your school as possible - which is obviously just a reason to allow Florida State, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Louisville to play their SEC rivals.
My assumption is that VT will agree to play Liberty. The one thing that could work in our favor is if most of the teams outside those with SEC rivals decide to go with "cupcakes" since they won't otherwise get any of those games this year. Maybe then we slide in there somehow.
Speaking of Liberty, we now have an open date on October 17th, when Liberty is scheduled to play Syracuse. If for some reason they can't convince Syracuse to keep them, they should do their conference mates a solid and allow us to play them. Unfortunately they already have two FCS teams on the schedule, so I'm not sure it would even be allowed. To be fair, one of those two teams is NC A&T, which might not be playing period. So perhaps we could take their spot.

A&T is officially not playing this fall. They might play in the spring if the MEAC has a season then.

I would think we would try to replace the home games? Right now as power five conferences keep changing the slate, we are in waiting until ACC configures a new schedule. I hope BYU is happy with us in their schedule.

BYU has had three games cancelled already. So, they are probably happy to keep us on the schedule. They are an Indy with no conference to guarantee games.
Rumor has it that the SEC is going conference only with a 10 game schedule starting last week of Sept.

Saw somewhere that South Alabama may have a need for a game now. Maybe we could travel to them for one of our lost home games. We would lose a home game but at least the travel would be in state and doable.
