Troy got into the online-learning game early and claims to have something like 20,000 students, even though their campus itself is about the same size as ours. That's why they aren't really a good comparison anymore. Their endowment is up over $100 million, which dwarfs ours. JSU is a much more of a peer, and honestly, there's no reason why we can't eventually get right there with them as far as facilities go (if not better).
But yeah, this is all a moot point if this damn virus doesn't go away or if some sort of effective treatment and/or vaccine is found.

When this virus started, I did some reading on the 1919 pandemic. One thing I never found was the discovery of a vaccine or cure for that pandemic. I'm not holding my breath for a vaccine or cure to the current virus, even with the modern advances in medical research. Now, I'm wearing a mask when I can't social distance but, life has to go on. When it comes to the stadium, I expect Covid will become convenient for explaining why some things could not be happen to start raising funds. I get it but I don't want it to become our crutch to reach for to explain why efforts dwindled to nothing. When an ant is carrying food to the ant hill and there is an impediment in the way, it will go over or around. It will find a way. If it has to cross a stream, it will gather up some friends, hang together, and float across as a group. I know some big fundraisers have been cancelled, because of Covid, that were keyed to gatherings of people that could have raised some big dollars. Covid is an impediment but not an excuse to stop efforts. Every dollar that could have been raised in the last two years would have been a start and something in the bucket. Heck, I would be happy if I knew there was even a passive effort bring made to raise funds. What would have been wrong with having an option, on the online sales of football tickests, to check s box for a contribution to the new stadium fund. What would be wrong, when alumni get their annual request for a contribution to the school, to be afterward asked if they would like to contribute anything to the new stadium fund. You don't even have to know if it will be on or off campus to start raising funds. So I've go to say that I don't understand the silence an lack of visible effort. I'm willing to send emails to the Pres and AD. No problem if they are the power on this but I don't feel like wasting my time if they are not. Based on their lack of vocality on this topic, I get the feeling they may have the throne but some other entity is the power behind the throne. Let me know.
