Depending on how we play Nichols....rumor is we go after dimes next and then maybe step up to quarters if dimes goes well. The schedule is definitely about to change.....ok I’m done...

Nichols was in the original Gulf South Conference, if I'm not mistaken? I know SELA was.
Not a bad plan, facing all these old teams. I think UT-Martin is another one? Maybe we can get them on the schedule eventually.

Nickles, dimes, and quarters are ok with me, especially as we get our sea legs under us. Big concern is this year. Would hate to see us lose dollars of BYU and Va Tech if Covid tanks the season. I think Athletics probably has a real need for those dollars.

I know the payouts for those two games are drops in the bucket for the stadium itself, but I don't think saying every dollar is important is an understatement. IF the stadium is pushed back 5-10 years, they better look at some upgrades for Braly. I hate to spend money there, but I also don't want to fall way behind our peers.

Not sure what the hold up is on raising money for a new stadium, but I've been saying that for going on three years now. Every dollar put toward Braly stadium upgrades will be a drag on any new stadium starting. I'm a senior citizen and the longer this takes the less likely I'll ever get to sit in it.

Seems as if the pressure put on by SGA and the stadium work group led administration to announce support for a stadium project before they were willing to actually dive into the venture. COVID-19 made progress slow, but there wasn't much progress beforehand.

One should always have their eyes wide open going into any major endeavor but, as my dad used to say, "He who hesitates is lost!" We hesitated over 25 years ago when our stable mates made the move up in classification and again 25 years ago, when we won our 3rd natty, in making the move up in classification. Methinks timidity has wasted a lot of time for UNA.

Were we not all about the same size in the early 90s? Obviously enrollment is just one factor, but I just can't believe they were able to do it and us be a full 25 years behind them. I've always assumed the Shoals hosting the championship game weighed heavily in us remaining D2.

I reckon hindsight is better than foresight a lot o times. Looking back, I think we would have been better off making the move. Sure the championship games brought in a lot of money over the years but I wonder if they actually would have brought in more to the Shoals than home and homes with Jacksonville, Troy, Ala A&M, Samford, UTC, etc.... Additionally we would have probably had some money games to boot the assist the athletic department. Anyway, that is all water under the bridge now. What can we do to light a fire to get some interest in the school and the area? A good ole inspirational, looking forward, all hands on deck goal to get the stadium funded and started could help folks look forward. I am not a turtle or an ostrich. I am a Lion. Time to Rise and Roar in my book!

Not saying this could have happened, but really, Troy went FBS... I could understand if it was Huntsville or Decatur or a city like that, but Troy...
I remember going through there when there was absolutely nothing there.
If UNA would have went with them, would we be in FBS now? Think about Florence compared to Troy and Jacksonville...

I remember going through there when there was absolutely nothing there. If UNA would have went with them, would we be in FBS now? Think about Florence compared to Troy and Jacksonville... Can't look at Troy by their city of origin. Troy, very early on, took a different approach to how education was offered. They were one of the first schools to look outside of the traditional box of campus education. You need to take a look at their (Troy the University and not Troy the city) on campus population versus their total enrollment. Troy enrollment is about as spread out over the world as you can find as are their educational offerings. That is to say they have a huge fan base and a student population that is no where near the main campus. I believe they were/are located very close to an Air Force base that they very much catered to in the many years ago. Just like the mobility of the soldiers they supported they managed to become mobile to support this base. In doing so, they got ahead of the game when it came to off site and on line offerings of courses to folks who ended up working in other parts of the country/world. It would not surprise me if we one day, at our current pace, show up falling away in the rear view mirror of UAH when it comes to Division 1 sports (and that includes football). There is a window of opportunity and we either make it happen or we don't. A lot can happen in 5 to 10 years. I know this is the Covid era, tough times, and confusing moves with regard to conference alignments but, the world is not going to stop and wait on us. If UNA is serious about D1 it is time to push on. This stadium situation is a case in point. There should not be silence for months on end. This should be out front in view of everybody all the time.

You just hit the nail on the head. We have to get this stadium going soon or we will fall way behind other regional FCS schools. Right now the excitement of turning D1 is still attractive to recruits, but when that starts to wear off we better have some ground broken on that stadium or we will be left in the dust. Roar lions.

Then ALL of us need to push the University to make it happen...
I know the coaches would be fighting with us.
Start sending Emails to AD and Prez constantly.

Until an affordable vaccine is mass produced or COVID-19 mutates itself into much weaker forms, don’t see the stadium even being a thought. Costs for just keeping athletics going without tickets being sold will be tough. Some of the fundraisers that North Alabama relies on heavily didn’t happen due to the virus. Troy is fortunate to have a very, very, very wealthy donor donate millions and millions into athletic facilities and campus. We don’t have that guy/girl....we have some fairly healthy donors, but not to that status. I can’t imagine season tickets have been flying off the shelf....people are concerned. Hoping ESPN+ pays us well for each game? I was thinking people would be willing to pay $5 to $10 to watch the games. $13 a month for ESPN+ Disney Hulu seems too affordable. How does UNA generate more revenue? The auction is looking less likely to happen, the golf tournament didn’t happen. Big time fundraisers not producing funds.
