How do they determine the order of the conference games? Is it a lottery draw? Just seems weird to play KSU that early in the conference schedule. And that's a tough first half of the schedule in general.

I hope the coaching staff is prepared for some gnashing of teeth from the fans. I like to say I'm a realist, not a pessimist. The first six games are brutal, and I include WIU in that because it's on the road and you just never know. If we were to start 0-6, things might get real ugly around here.
Now that being said, I'm not saying I expect us to start 0-6. But it's possible that we will be an underdog in all six games. Would going 2-4 in that stretch be acceptable to us? Other than VT, the three games I'd consider most difficult are in Florence.
As I sit here on January 7th, I would consider 6-5 a very successful season. Anything else would be gravy.

Got to win a tough game on the road with new Qb and basically new oline in the opener. I imagine they know how important winning the first game at is to their season. Pretty exciting schedule, if we can escape Illinois with a win, lookout against JSU. We have the dline to slow those guys down and think our linebackers will be improved. Secondary is a concern, just new faces, but talented.

Guess somebody in the conference has too...right now I would rather play KSU than Monmouth....guess new kids on the block Drew that assignment.

We are STILL in the money making stage. If we want a stadium, it's better to get clobbered now than later.

I'm expecting 3-4 wins max. I'm just waiting until 2022 to see if we can compete by then or look for a different staff.

We will definitely need some breaks to fall our way. Tough sledding for established D1 program. Our guys never quit last year, hope we have a similar mentality in some of these games this year. I going with 4 wins that we can get, with possible 6 wins if we catch some breaks.

I dont know about yall, but if we are progressing, it seems to me like we have a shot at top 3 in conference. Yes, the schedule, especially the first 6 games look tough, and yes I'm an optimist, but I see some wins, especially in conference.
What I dont know is, what does Monmouth have coming back? It seemed to me that they built everything for a run last year.
If we can pull it together and play a whole game every game, instead of having 1 good half, we should be okay.
I will not get into the FBS side, but I think we have a good shot at Western Illinois, a decent shot at JSU in Florence (hopefully we can get loud), we didnt do too bad vs Monmouth, we gave KSU everything they wanted for the first half. Should have beaten Hampton, and CSU. Gardner Webb is going through a coaching change.
If our previously redshirted guys are good, and provide some depth, I dont see why we cant have a good year.
Just my optimistic outlook.

My question is, if we don't count in the conference yet, will the Big South still have a AQ spot to get in the playoffs?
Rules say you have to have 7 for the AQ, without UNA that makes 6 since Presbyterian is gone.
