I do think the local players, like the Wallens, helped the crowd. The numbers were slightly up from Senior Night - which obviously drew in a larger local contingent to see the Wallens and folks traveling from abroad to see Coulson (Huntsville), Eubank (Murfreesboro), and even Panetti had family in from Texas.
The Athletic Department seemed to have done a great job of hyping the semi-final and getting folks in seats even as other events were starting to limit fans and cancel. That included getting most of the other UNA athletes (including the entire football team) there to support.
I only watched online but it seemed to be an atmosphere not experienced in Flowers in a long, long time. As it appears that was their last game, even being a loss, it was electric and the atmosphere they deserved in their final game in Flowers.

The Wallen’s have probably been pulling in at least 200 or 300 themselves. There has been around 200 that have been following them from the Anderson & Rogersville area since around the 8th grade. When the men played following the women game, I have been out in the lobby and have seen around 100 or more leave after the Women’s game several times.
I have been watching UNA Women’s Basketball for over 40 years and that Atmosphere Was the greatest that I had ever seen at a Women’s game. I know that there had been a few times when it was great when the UAH men’s team was playing in Florence. It reminded me of back during the Otis Boddie playing days.
Coach Willis probably had a lot to do with the football team in attendance. Over the years Coach Willis has been to a lot of the Women’s games.
Speaking of Coaches, I have never seen Coach Pujol at a Women’s game unless he was up in the VIP area.

To be honest, didnt pay much attention this year. Last year, coaches (and family) were allowed to sit on the bottom section, this year they had to sit up top.

I obviously hope this happens, and all of our seniors choose to return. But man, this could seriously open a can of worms, mostly due to the NCAA’s own rules. Specifically, the transfer portal. Say you’re an incoming freshman that has already signed with a team that was set to lose several seniors (like us), and you expected to compete for significant playing time. If you’re the coach, do you risk playing the seniors again and potentially losing the future of your team to a transfer because they don’t want to sit for a year? I don’t mean to be doom and gloom here, seriously. But that scenario will happen. On the flip side, I hope they would restrict returning seniors to ONLY being able to play for their current school. Absolutely no transfers for them.

Ivey Wallen was named to the ASUN All-Tournament team. Congrats to her!
These seniors will be missed. They've had some great social media tributes to the five seniors.
