I mean, I can understand wanting to keep it quiet for a while. At least until you have all your ducks in a row. Since they now have the land to build the new baseball stadium, I would think an announcement about football could be coming soon. The fundraising will surely need to get started.

From the Flor-Ala: City of Florence gives UNA land to relocate Mike D. Lane Field
Couple of points here the TD article didn’t have. First, the City can reclaim the property if the stadium isn’t completed in five years. That’s a pretty aggressive timeline and motivation for the University to get it done. Second, Linder is quoted as saying they already have diagrams of what the stadium will look like. I know some of y’all have dropped hints on here about this project being this far along, but I guess I just didn’t believe it until I saw the evidence. Now I’m starting to get excited. I’m guessing we’re still 5+ years from a football stadium, though.

I think there should be a pre-building season ticket sale to jump start the deal. I would buy... Have a day that people can come to Flowers and put a presentation of the plans on the video boards, in all phases and sell season ticket packages. Make them cheaper before its built to provide more incentive.

I guess you thought I was making stuff up. As someone pointed out previously, I tend to spew stupid s#!+.

Nah, it wasn’t about not believing you, it was about not trusting some of the people in charge. You’re from the Shoals. How many times have things been promised in that area and then never happen? On the Braly contract - I might be misremembering, but I think there is an out clause as long as we give plenty of notice.

Yeah, but it usually doesn't involve UNA. Like I said previously, after the debacle with Braly, to my understanding, the City of Florence is going to do everything they can possibly do to help UNA out. UNA had no plans prior to that to build a stadium, and was fully committed to spending millions on renovating Braly and bringing it above par for FCS. But the BOE showed their colors. Dont expect a dime more than necessary to be put into Braly from UNA going forward. Hell, dont expect the Board of Education to put much into it either, I would not be surprised if Florence High school didnt start playing in the new stadium before it's all said and done. I was told they dont have the money to fix major repairs that are going to be in need soon at Braly, but they wanted to push out the one occupant that could. Smh. Anyway, that went somewhere I didnt mean for it to.

What I have learned about Linder, like him or not, he usually does what he says. This plan has been in the works for a while now.

I like Linder. Heck the transition has been very smooth and that because he made some hard choices. The right choices as of today. I would think we will see some more movement after the 2020 football payday game against BYU. The game against Memphis will also help. Surely having A&M and Gamecocks coming to Florence will be big ticket sellers in the upcoming seasons. Exciting times ahead!

I like the plans so far.
I also like the suggestion about it looking like the rest of the buildings on campus. That is very important.

Very good presentation. My only question was the capacity. 10-12K feels very small with D1 schools starting to come to town.

Very good presentation. My only question was the capacity. 10-12K feels very small with D1 schools starting to come to town. I think it's just a rough idea. I was told the other day 15k to start with. And expandable to 25k. This presentation was just to gather info and get ideas.

I just posted on the video. I hope they read it and take heed. I've been waiting 46 years for this to happen and, due to the university's track record, I'm worried they will blow this. Something they aren't factoring in is the "If you build it, they will come" aspect. There's never been a new stadium or arena that hasn't caused a huge increase in fan support. That will give us a great bump and hopefully our football team will be playing at a higher level by then to sustain that.
PLEASE don't make the mistake of asking children what the university should do.This is such a huge, long term decision that should be decided by people who know what they are talking about. Let's face it, all of those children will be gone before you know it. They should have NO say on it. If you leave it to them, they would vote to abolish the grading system and make free beer mandatory. DON'T DO IT.
