Hope to see all you guys at the spring game....I am guaranteeing victory for the Lions tomorrow. Really want to see which quarterback looks like our starter next year after Lopez and also the new backs...offensive and defensive. Also can we make a FG? We have been fortunate there last couple of years. Heard linebackers should be even better...wow.

I think the OL will, or should be much improved.

Just wasn’t very impressed by the offense from start to finish. Lopez came out and threw a bad pick on the first drive which seemed to set the tone for the whole scrimmage. Too many turnovers on the offensive side which is really uncharacteristic of us. Quarterbacks couldn’t get much going because our oline is just not very good right now. Dever and Files we’re getting knocked around pretty bad on dropbacks which really concerns me with us only having 5 D Linemen play the whole scrimmage. Now, they’re was a lot of good that came from it as well. Saw some young guys step up and make some big plays, but for the most part I just felt like l left the game sort of disappointed.

Mann and Woodruff weren’t able to play on oline which probably hurt some of the continuity. The bad snaps are things that cannot happen from the center. The transfer from S. AL may end up starting in the fall at center? I wouldn’t be surprised now with the injury if we don’t pickup at least one more transfer or possible two? The backs showed they are going to bring something to the table if oline can improve. I agree the qb’s were pressing a little too hard when they got the opportunity. Devet has a strong arm...got to protect the ball. Linebackers were popping folks, heard it was one of the hardest hitting spring games yet. Don’t forget dline has Glaze and Ryan coming. Our defense should keep us in every game. The offense with Lopez will be fine. I know he threw a pick in spring game...which is about same total he threw all last year. Receivers have a chance to be even better. Howell is electric, hard to tackle. Thompson is fast and Price gets positive yards. Team has a chance to leave a mark, beating JSU would be a good one.

So we must be perfect? Is spring practice over and we left 3 opportunities to improve on the field? I understand the concern for injury but that’s why the guys without experience need the reps? Maybe the coaches are out their on toad looking at some transfers?

Awesome. I was hoping after watching the film from spring game we would want to do some clean up. Been a quiet spring for football this year, not sure if that is good, bad, or really doesn’t mean much? This should be one the most talented teams the Lions have put on the field position by position. I believe we land 3 more pieces to the puzzle this summer that will come with some other talent that will be here this fall. Our offense after a full season and spring together should be very explosive. We should average 40 plus a game. The only position that oils slow our offense is the oline.

Yeah I believe they had 2 non padded practices this week from what Willis said. Already are hurting in some spots due to injury, so no need to press on after the spring game. The coaches are hoping for 2 oline transfers to come in and play right away. I feel like they said this same thing after last spring but we shall see. I feel good about next season fellas. Thursday night against Western Illinois... chills just thinking about it!

Thursday night against Western Illinois... chills just thinking about it! What do we know about the others we play? Western Illinois is a traditionally decent program in an extremely difficult conference. Montana is a FCS power, but has been down the past few seasons. A&M should be at least as good as last year, they have a great coach in my opinion. JSU, well is JSU. They should be strong, but I dont think they will be as good as the last two time we met. The Big South overall I think is down this year, hopefully I'm wrong. But KSU just lost a ton of seniors that made the team click, the returners should be good, but I dont know if they will be as strong as the past two years. Campbell should be a little better, but I dont think they do to us like they did last year. That game was a fluke in my opinion. I cant speak for the rest, but it seems like there is some giddiness by the coaches when it comes to this year.

We have talent, oline will need transfer from South Alabama and maybe anotherti come in help oline gell. If our team has some chemistry together we could be fun to watch. Difference in JSU and UNA is depth....probably true with KSU, Montana, and Western Illinois. We have coaching continuity, big deal at FCS/FBS level. We are built we speed and lots of it. Dline shapes the way it sounds like it could, teams will be forced to pass more than they would like. If secondary continues to improve we will be in every game in the 4th. Exciting 2nd year and actually belonging to conference. I am sure coaches will use that to motivate the team.

But I often wonder, and I guess it's my perfect world or even fantasy world, but if we could make it work, I would almost prefer being an independent if we could schedule certain schools yearly. The kind of scheduling I would like as an indy would be one that we play our regional rivals, develop a couple of national rivalries, schedule good programs to 2 or 4 year contracts, and an FBS or two a year. Example A&M KSU Chattanooga ETSU Bama State Samford EKU Austin Peay Montana, or other FCS "Blueblood" FBS Youngstown State JSU I think a schedule like that with say, 7-8 wins would get us into the playoffs. And have enough regional games to get fans to show up.
