When will it begin? What familiar faces will be missing? What unfamiliar faces have grown and is looking to make an impact? Who replaces Cox? Can we defend the run? Can we get pressure on the qb? Will we be able to improve in the secondary? New kicker ready? Does the oline continue to improve?

Think both JUCO Running Backs will be our 1 and 2 with Thompson getting a heavy work load. Coaches are very high on him. Humphrey will probably be that goal line or 3rd and short type guy. Chase Brown, AJ Bracy, and Will Singleton should rotate at the corner spots. KJ Smith will be back at safety and Jordan Robinson who was starting last year before tearing his Achilles should man the other spot. Trenches still a concern. If the D line recruiting class is as good as advertised we should be good there. O line I don’t know. Receivers will obviously look the same, as well as the linebackers. Swan starts at tight end this spring. Lopez back at QB with a battle for the QB2 spot. That’s just what I’ve seen and heard thus far. Any other players to look for? Keep us posted.

I believe Lopez will have a good battle for the starting spot. Unless Hodges quit...

Who replaces Amanfo at linebacker? QB and receivers appear to be set. Howell at back is someone to watch. I think Thompson could be special at back too. Kicker battle will be a great

From all the film I watched on Hodges, I think he is good enough to make it a tough decision for starter. At VMI, he had crap for receivers, and no protection, but he still hit his receivers in the hands, they just couldn't catch. Our receivers will catch the ball, hopefully our protection is better.

How many years does Hodges have left? Could he back up this year and slide into the starting role next year? I thought the coaching staff seemed to think highly of Files, but he doesn’t seem to be the type of QB that Aplin wants for his offense, which confuses me. I assume Rhett ended up with a redshirt? I know he got into a game or two, but I’m pretty sure it was less than five? Well nevermind on Files - a check of the roster on RoarLions.com shows him as a redshirt freshman. Now as for Hodges, it shows him as a junior, but that could still mean either 3 or 2 years to play 2. My guess is he only has 2.

If I'm not mistaken, Hodges played 2 years at VMI and had to sit last year. If that's the case he only has 1 year.

Hodges has 2 years I thought? He redshirted a year and then started a few games as a RS Freshman at VMI. As far as for Files, I don’t know. By now he’s got to know that he doesn’t fit that well in Aplin’s offense. Hate to speculate like this, but you can’t help to wonder if he’ll try and explore other schools that fit his game? Time will tell I suppose.

Time will tell I suppose. Yeah if he’s listed as a junior he should at least have 2 years. Probably just 2, though. Which isn’t ideal, since if he backs up Lopez this season and starts next year we’ll be right back to looking for a starter in 2021. But I suppose I shouldn’t be worried about anything beyond this year, since you never know how these things play out. Maybe Hodges can beat out Lopez? I thought Ponch did a pretty good job this past year, all things considered. If Hodges win the job I would expect some big things out of him. More concerning than QB are the lines. I’m really interested in seeing Jbril Glaze. I assume we have to pencil him in as a starter on the DL, or at least that has to be the hope. After that there’s mostly a bunch of redshirt freshmen and sophomores returning. Maybe we’ll see a transfer of some sort come in this summer. Otherwise I am more than a little nervous. OL is a little deeper at least.

The coaches are really excited about Files. He can move, will not be a runner like Lopez. They do not want a running qb. Just a qb that can stand tall in the pocket and slide out of trouble. Files should be fun to watch, he can really spin it. Prefer he didn’t have to play much this year and then battle his sophomore year with Devers/Hodges for starter. We went from two years ago only having one qb on the roster to 4 good looking qbs. Great recovery coaches. I really want to see if some of the younger oline guys that have redshirted made the next step. Progression for Collier/Woodruff/Cazola/Gentle could determine our success? We need Whitehead to solid at center and Nalls to stay healthy. McMullan will be a starter in the fall. Pick a spot on the line he can play any spot. I think he starts at tackle. Hope we snag another secondary guy during spring/summer. We are talented but thin on experience.
