Tough ending for the women. With Panetti out, we have NO inside game on either end of the floor. Liberty ate us up with points in the paint at the very end. Plus, we were doing nothing but jacking up 3s. It would be nice to bring in someone to help spell Panetti next year if she gets in foul trouble.
Liberty ain’t great, but they aren’t bad. It seems they are solid in all sports. They’ll be vying for a lot of ASUN titles year in, year out I’m afraid.
Maybe the men can catch their guys on an off-day today...

Nice in here. "Music" SUCKS but that's to be expected. It was hard to get any enthusiasm from the crowd until the end. Soar throat coming.

Liberty is the only team to give FGCU a game this season. They lost to them by only 1 a few days ago. Panetti definitely needs help. We need an actual big girl transfer with about 2 years of eligibility to come in during the off season.

Women only scoring 57 at home reminds me we are a D2 team trying to play D1. Missing layups and guards missing free throws? Team doesn’t always play as a team....too many individual offensive attempts. Coach did not have a very good day either, can’t let the opposition gain that much momentum when you were up 9 late. Use a timeout and get it under control...not after you are down 1

Men were undisciplined on both ends. I had to keep reminding myself: only two players had played together, a lot of freshmen, first year in D1. If we can get a big man to take away some of those layups and learn that ball movement is the key on offense and NOT BY DRIBBLING, next year should be a big improvement.
If I were Pujol, after the season, I would have the team watching hours of film of the '80s Celtics and Lakers. Their ball movement was a work of art, both in a set offense and fastbreak. You can't just go out there and do it, you have to learn it. I wouldn't want to guess how many times we either lost the ball dribbling or lost a chance to score due to too much dribbling.
I was most disappointed in our defense. Since Pujol is a defensive minded coach, I expected better. Time after time after time etc, we would play good defense for 20 or 25 seconds and suddenly leave shooters wide open. They said thank you very much, I'll have another.
I know they are young but I expected better. Defense is a state of mind. You don't get points for it but you can't win without it. Right now, there's nothing in our state.

I was actually pleased more with men’s efforts than the women’s. The men were outmatches from the tip but really fought hard. We got some big minutes from the bench. Dutrell was all effort and hit a jumpshot and is our only player capable of dunking. He needs a whole season of work and he can be a good role player. Littles also showed flashes yesterday of offense? Our guards are just not consistent threats from the perimeter. Wide open we may make it 30% of the time? Liberty was making it 80% of the time. Liberty is impressive, I think we will get there. The women were easily as good as Liberty women but played stupid basketball at times. The turnovers need to be addressed and practice free throw shooting. Guards at worst should make one of two. We left a lot of points on the court....one of the few times it was hard to watch the women play this year. Guess the pressure of the former players being there may have contributed to the lack of rhythm.

I think that had a lot to do with it. Also, it seems that time off is n ot a positive for our women's team. They haven't played well in games coming off of a break.

Defensivly, just have to learn to stay where you belong whether its man-to-man or zone. Too much unsuccessful gambling cost us dozens of points. Do not not leave your wingman, so to speak. Champagne's late 2000s teams frustrated me so badly in that regard. Surely it will be addressed. We need to come up with at least one defensive dawg who would bleed all over that floor to get his man. A player like that influences the rest of the team in the best way! I didn't see him Saturday night. I DID see her Saturday afternoon. The men need their on Ivy.

Round 2 at Liberty tonight. Final regular-season game for the women. It's important, too. A win will be our 20th, which is just pretty incredible considering this is our first season in D1. Also, according to the TimesDaily, a win tonight will lock down the 3-seed for the ASUN tournament, but a loss will drop us to 4th. Apparently we can't finish as the 2-seed. Even if Stetson loses tonight, they win the tiebreaker due to sweeping Liberty this season (I guess when two teams tie for a seed they look at each team's head-to-head with the next seed down).
Regardless of tonight's outcome, we'll be playing an ASUN quarterfinal game at Flowers on Friday night.

Are they going to re-seed after Round 1 like the men?

That is crappy. That's not how they handled the tie with Lipscomb/Liberty in men. They used the NET rating.
