Confidence should go up tremendously now. Who, honestly would have looked at me like I was an idiot if I said we would win against FGCU in the first year?
I know they are down, but they should be leap years ahead of us.
GREAT FIRST D1 WIN.... ROAR DADGUM LIONS....

They are very down. Lost four in a row and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Thank goodness! I'll take it. Roar Lions!

They are very down, but still would have beat us if we have played like we did the past couple of games. I saw a turning in the attitude of the team tonight. They would not stop with less than a win. That is a winning mentality.

My guess is a redshirt for Youngblood at this point, if he's agreeable to it. I assume he transferred here with 3 to play 2.
Really proud of our guys last night. Tavon King's development is definitely helping us now. I was worried in the first half when he twisted his ankle and Agnew picked up a third foul right after that. Thankfully our guys were able keep FGCU from going on a big run somewhere around the end of the first half or the beginning of the second. It seems that has been our Achilles heel in several of our losses.
Our guys have taken their lumps against some good teams, and FGCU isn't what they once were (at least this year), but you have to think the early season schedule helped make a difference last night. And heck, we might have picked up a few more wins a long the way if we had played some of those teams at home. As it stands, who cares about the record? Just win some conference games and build towards next year.
ESPN says attendance was 850. Is that true? Brandon? Disappointing if so.

Hurts when school is out and the late tip time for the game, or attendance would have been a lot higher. Our defense and rebounding when 5 is in the game is totally different. He protects the rim better than any other player on the team or possibly any other ever? He has great hops and fast twitch ones which helps him block and shoot those high percentage shots....dunks. 5 has to play more, gives the team an energy we have not had since Pittsburgh game. The turnovers need to drop down to 10, If we only scored on a third of the 9 turnovers we reduced that could be another 6 points. Great thing about this win, Blackmon had an off night again, Agnew made really made one play the steal. Great effort, but was on the pine rest of the night. Littles was on pine most of the night. Smith hit some outside shots, King hit the big three and had a nice drive too. Dutreil was a beast downlow! Great to see we have another way to win.

We have some really solid freshmen! They should only get better. I thought students were back on campus now? I agree that the time of the game was not ideal, but I'm guessing most of our double-headers will be 6:00/8:00 (more like 8:30). It's something we may have to get used to. If parents/families don't want to bring their kids to the late game "on a school night", well... I'm not sure how we deal with that. I guess put a product on the floor that they can't not go see? Saturday at 3:30 we play NJIT, who has the best record in the conference. Now that we won a game, and against the one ASUN team casual fans might recognize, will it bring out a crowd? Sure would be nice to see at least 2,000 there.

Very disappointed. And a lot of the handful of students that was there seemed to leave early. Smh. The Commissioner was there, talked to him after the game. He loves what they did with Flowers. I did leave a message on Kitts twitter, he was talking about the win, I said "Now it's time for yall to do your part and have better marketing and community involvement and people will show up." Haven't got a reply yet, but a few likes popped up... Maybe the weekend games will be better.

Looking back at past seasons, 850 is a slight improvement. The only time we've cracked 1K in recent years is for UAH (over 2K).

Looking back at past seasons, 850 is a slight improvement. The only time we've cracked 1K in recent years is for UAH (over 2K). They need to connect with the Shoals area. Not just the business owners, the regular people like us. Make them feel like this is also theirs and to be proud we have it.
