Ouch. Men down 21 at the half.

Is it me, or do they give up on open shots too much?

I think we play better when Pujols doesn’t wear the vest....

Starting to wonder if Pujols is in over his head? We make the same mistakes every game? I know we are young, but we have played a lot of basketball and hopefully had a lot of practices to try and fix these same issues? I am not sure how every team looks the same against us? I cannot tell the difference between North Florida and Gonzaga against North Alabama? We do not believe we can win...it shows. The confidence is always with the other team. Hard to play D1 basketball with such short players on the perimeter that are not a threat to score from the outside. We miss a lot of wide open looks. We are just too small down low to play in the post with guys that are not strong leapers or possess strong post moves. I hope we win one ASUN game, not sure if that will happen watching the same team come out for North Alabama. Execution is on both ends right now is lacking...can't give other teams open looks, they have true D1 caliber players. Our coaches have to be looking at the teams we play realizing what type of players we must recruit. Enjoying the women, although the poor job of scheduling almost cost them their opening win in the ASUN. Can't layoff for more than 10 days? Terrible, our AD needs to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Yet, our men are suffering from the opposite problem with the scheduling. I think it would have helped to have had a couple HBCU's on the schedule and a bit of a holiday break.
They look tired and defeated.

I guess I'm the forever optimistic, the way I see it, we have won every game we are supposed to. Have lost every game we are supposed to as well. We also gave some good teams a run for their money. Now everyone knows what we have and game plan around it. We are small, young and a new coach. So I (we) cant be too disappointed or surprised at the outcomes of the games. The tough non conference games and the ASun games combined are going to help get the freshmen ready to be sophomores and help the incoming freshmen get ready for next season. I'm just enjoying seeing the new neighbors.

I'm just enjoying seeing the new neighbors. I agree. I look at guys like Blackmon and Agnew, and feel like these are kids that could contribute at some larger programs. The difference is, for those teams they probably wouldn’t have to until they were sophomores or even juniors. Here they get pressed to not only start but play dang near 40 minutes every game. That’s tough for anyone. Our ceiling is, realistically, probably about seven wins. So that would be four conference wins. The chances for that probably even seem bleak right now, but I’m still optimistic about winning a few of these games at home. Winning on the road in college basketball is hard enough without all the disadvantages we’ve had so far. I still have faith in Coach Pujol and this staff. Their biggest challenge may be in the offseason. Will all of the guys we signed last year be kept on the roster, or will some be encouraged to move on? Will we be able to recruit more true D1 players?

At this point, I'm thinking we should have kept more of last year's team just for cohesive purposes.
This situation resembles our volleyball program right now. New coach and an almost entirely new team getting decimated in D1.

Hard with the outcome of every men’s game being decided before the halftime. We really need an identity. Wonder what other teams say before playing us? That Lions team can’t shoot it but it doesn’t keep them from trying? Their defense is almost nonexistent but they aren’t afraid to foul? I was hoping our scheme on defense or our style of play would be what teams feared? We do not push the ball up the floor...which may be a good thing for control purposes. We do not really pressure on defense. Personnel has so much to do with what you are able to do on the court...think we are looking at it this year. Next year? Hopefully we will be better after learning what it will takes to compete at this level. I still watch all the games, never lose hope.
