And coincidentally, after mentioning this yesterday, the Big South goes and officially releases the conference schedule today... Lions on 2019 Big South Football ScheduleNothing earth-shattering there. Obviously this information had already leaked out. The 2019 schedule has NOT been posted on RoarLions.com yet. Now, since this news just "officially" came out today, I'll give them a day or two. But there's no good reason for it to not be up by the end of the week.
Maybe at least by February liked it was in the D2 era.

I imagine they keep us from it for the possibility of game changes.

In fairness on the University side, theyhave to have a secure source of income to move forward with facilities. Remember, we are still in year 1. Money from ththe conference will come, but that money will primarily go towards ASun sports, because its ASun money. Football can benefit in small way from it, but the primary income for FCS football (just like D2) comes from ticket sales and guaranteed money from FBS games. We have to do our part for the ticket sales. The whole attitude that I heard from a lot of people is, "I'm not going to Braly anymore because of parking, it's old, insert excuses here" ain't going to make anything better. UNA hasn't been in D1 long enough to have extra money to just build it, and we damn sure ain't an SEC school and crap out whatever. At this point, anything that happens, football wise in the facilities race, is sitting squarely on our (the fans) shoulders. That means we have to show up, or at least buy tickets or make donations. However una has been the exact opposite of fan-friendly. The fact that we only have six football coaches and most of them aren't even making minimum wage (unless things have suddenly changed) speaks volumes. We are still labeled as the Cadillac body with the Ford Pinto engine.

The fact that we only have six football coaches and most of them aren't even making minimum wage (unless things have suddenly changed) speaks volumes. We are still labeled as the Cadillac body with the Ford Pinto engine. That’s the whole catch-22 of this D1 transition. I didn’t really feel comfortable leaving D2 with half the number of coaches as other schools, a decaying stadium, subpar facilities, etc. But the cruel reality that I’ve come to realize is, you can’t make the money to fix those things until you go D1 and start sharing some of the money from a conference with a higher revenue stream, along with, well, taking beatings from FBS schools. That’s the model. I think the University just legitimately didn’t have the money to do much more while in the GSC. Now, as we’ve discussed in this thread, the third part of the money equation is getting fans to (literally) buy in. Will they show up this year, win or lose? We sure need them to.

I look at differently. I think a new stadium would generate more fan interest and sell tickets. People would want to see the new stadium. The stadium would be decked in purple with hints of gold. Championship banners would be in place. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result....well you know how it goes. I am also a believer in risk-reward. Too bad it’s not totally up to me huh? I will go to whatever stadium my Lions are playing...unfortunately others feel different.

But you cant just drown in debt either. We have to have some capital before we make the investments. The stadiums(plural) are in the plans, but to make it start faster, there has to be a commitment from US.

But that Azusa Pacific game had to play part in this year’s drop, right? Not to mention the 2018 home schedule was kind of a letdown since it was all D2 teams. Still, that’s a decline every year since 2013. Need to reverse that trend ASAP.

So, the question is why?...
And, if a new stadium was built, would that reverse the trend?
I would like to see Braly with Standing room only average for a couple of years.
I think, winning a couple of games early this season will go a long way in reversing the trend with an all D1 schedule.

Simple answer is win. Going 5-5 with the most boring offense was not going to lure people to the game. This year would have been better except for the weather game. The numbers with a full slate of D1 home games should improve, but we had better win at home. If we could win at JSU then I think the team would have some real momentum. The offense has the potential to be very explosive in year two if the oline improves during the spring. We need a big exciting win to start that Thursday night and build some momentum.

I think/hope a lot of fans were just burned out on playing the D2 schedule. The team during the 2000s was, for the most part, exciting to watch. Around the time Hudspeth left, and the Arkansas teams broke away, I don't know - it just seemed like something changed. We were down to most years having one interesting game on the home schedule each year, Valdosta or Delta. Who wants to watch us pound Shorter? Or Mississippi College?

It wasn't just the APU game. We had 3 games in the 6K range.
APU - 5314 (terrible weather delay) UWF - 6811 MC - 9230 (Homecoming) SU - 6289 NGU - 6130 (Preview Day)

Yikes. I was only able to make it to Homecoming this year, so I guess I assumed that crowd was closer to the norm. Also it appears I'm part of the problem (even if I do live 3 hours away).
