I haven't been this excited for a football season in a long time, ok, I lied, I have never been this excited. I was very excited about 2018 but also had reservations because it still felt like a D2 season. 2019 will feel very, very different. We have 12 D1 games. And a very good schedule.
How do yall feel about 2019? What are you looking forward to the most? Again, I encourage everyone to buy season tickets, and if you cant attend one of the games, give them to someone who can, make new Lion fans.

6 home games and first D1 home game at Braly! Going back to JSU this year with a team that will compete with them. Seeing how we fair in the Big South Conference. Rematch against Campbell. Alabama A&M coming back to Braly. Better officiating at home. Less penalties. Being able to challenge a call. How about everyone else?

I'm excited and very nervous. But, whatever. It's all about learning and enduring the transition. If we're .500 or better, I'll be happy.

Hopefully with some beefing up of the roster. Campbell was our only Big South opponent this year and they went 1-4 in the conference. bigsouthsports.com/standings.aspx?path=football

Obviously recruiting can make a huge difference, and I REALLY don’t want to sound like a pessimist, but I feel like we could have a better team next year but fewer wins. I wouldn’t necessarily be upset with 6-5, depending on how the losses go. Six D1 wins would be an improvement over this year, of course. We MUST get better on the line of scrimmage, especially the o-line. That will probably require some impact transfers. We can’t have Lopez running for his life on every snap in 2019.
Now, I say we could finish 6-5, and I feel like we have eleven games scheduled for next year... but can anybody actually find a 2019 schedule? It isn’t posted on RoarLions.com. FBS schedules shows us with four non-conference games: Western Illinois, @montana, Alabama A&M, @jacksonville State. Then by my count we should have six conference games with Presbyterian leaving the Big South (I think?) and Hampton joining. Where is the other game? Is Presbyterian in the conference another year? Or do we only have ten scheduled? Anybody know?
Edit to add: I’m reading back, and Brandon, I see where you say we have 12 D1 games. Now I’m really confused, haha.

I could be wrong on that though. So either 11 or 12 games.

Looks like, based on the 2019 Schedule thread you bumped up, that I would have found the answer to my question if I had just looked a little harder. I’m glad we seem to have 12 games, since we were cheated out of one this year. However, it does bring up an interesting point. Based on the way the calendar falls next year, FBS teams at least have a built-in second bye week. It we have 12 games, this means that since the FCS schedule ends a week earlier than FBS, we are foregoing the second bye. Now if our bye is October 12th as it seems, that’s smack in the middle of the schedule - a big plus IMO. So maybe we figured we don’t need the second bye.

I dont see it, and i dont think he really does either. Coach speak. All I know is, there is several winnable OOC games and the big South should be down this year, Presbyterian will not be a struggle, CSU just lost a head coach, Monmouth and KSU is graduating most the best players on both teams. Hampton wasnt very good this year and Gardner Webb is a Dr Jekyll type program. I'm predicting a 9-10 win season.

I think we all expect a great year and an improvement on this year. If that unfolds remains to be seen. I'm curious and eager to see what type of mid-year transfers we'll have. Ready for spring ball!

I agree only on Presby. CSU may end up with a great coach. Monmouth and KSU may find a way to reload. As fast a KSU has moved in the last 4 years, well it wouldn't surprise me. Hampton may settle in this year, actually being in a conference that claims them. As for GW, reckon it will depend on whether we meet the Jekyll or Hyde. At any rate, best to go into the season expecting we have to play at our very best and highest level cause roast duck does not fly into mouth.

I agree, it will not be a cake walk. As far as Campbell, I think if we have gotten there the night before, nevermind, I dont like making excuses, but after the first quarter, we kinda set the pace, the first quarter put us way too far out of the game. Us getting them at home should be an advantage. CSU is not a great job, especially after what happened. As far as the rest, KSU, Monmouth, JSU and Western Illinois is why I am at 9, I think we can win any of them, but probability is low, we realistically could win 2 of those. And maybe an upset (in my eyes) to get to 10.

Our 2019 schedule is listed here. Not sure how "official" it is but thought I'd share. fbschedules.com/ncaa/north-alabama/I'm not a big fan of those Thursday night games to begin Labor Day Weekend before school starts. Yet, I'm excited for DI games in Braly!
