Tis the season.
Tulane: Memphis tight ends coach Will Hall is expected to become Willie Fritz’ new OC reports Dan Wolken of USA Today. Hall previously served as offensive coordinator at Louisiana Lafayette and as head coach at West Georgia and West Alabama.
Kansas: KU has officially announced Chip Lindsey as offensive coordinator.
Arkansas Tech (D-II): Head coach Raymond Monica will not return. After averaging nearly 8 wins per season from 2015-2017, the Wonder Boys finished this season 3-8.

Hall is moving around a lot. Lindsey and Les might do something out in Kansas.

Austin Peay (FCS – TN): Sources tell FootballScoop that Mark Hudspeth will be the next head coach at Austin Peay. Hud spent this past season on Joe Moorhead’s staff at Mississippi State as the assistant head coach / tight ends coach.

Willing to make a bet that AP will be the next team on our schedule? Probably every year Hud is there after we schedule them.

Austin Peay (FCS – TN): Source tells FootballScoop Mark Hudspeth does not plan to retain any of Will Healy’s staff. Healy is bringing some to Charlotte. Will update….
I would think this is a potential spot for AJ to land.

Anybody else feel a little bittersweet about this? Obviously we have a coach and staff that we weren't just going to dump to bring Hudspeth back. And who knows, he might not have any desire to come back. But I think APU, even though they have long been a pretty bad football program, has potential to turn that around. Obviously the previous staff did a great job and actually had them right on the brink of going to the postseason. Now they can sell recruits on their potential to go to the playoffs. Assuming Hud still has some connections in this area, we might even end up fighting for some of the same recruits.
I'm interested to see what happens, and especially if Milwee ends up there, I'll wish them well. Hard to feel much different than that at this point.

I get the feeling it will turn into a rivalry, at least while Hud is there. I bet JSU is worried right about now.

Hud could make APU a playoff regular and that's kinda scary for UNA. We'll see how it plays out.

HUD shouldn't be there more than 5 years. Just curious, where do you see Hud going? Think if he wins he'd get another shot at an FBS job? I could see him averaging 8-9 wins over the next few years. Maybe he wins the OVC, or at least gets them to the playoffs. Would another FBS school come calling? He didn't do THAT bad at Louisiana, but you have to remember, he had to vacate a bunch of wins for recruiting violations. Would that make schools shy away? Maybe he gets offered an OC position at a major school and tries to work his way into a major head coaching job? If there's any job where past sins can be forgotten over time, it's a football coach. Then there's Milwee. If Hud hires him as OC and they're successful, and if we end up looking for a coach in a few years (not saying we'll have to), wonder how that would play out? Having the best man for the job should obviously be the goal, but I'm always intrigued by alums.

Granted, the OC job will have to be a good P5 job so the money will be better than what he makes at AP. I'm just saying, I know for a fact that KSU recruits heavily in North Alabama and so does JSU. AP may come around our recruiting areas a little, but not as much. Hud may start, but again, I dont think he will be there more than 5 or 6 years without finding a better paying job. He just dont strike me as the guy that wants to build a long career at an FCS school. That being said, I meant it as a compliment to his coaching and recruiting abilities.

A lot can change in 10 years, so I'm not sure if he still has a lot of "connections" at area high schools, but Clarksville might be a relatively easy sell for Shoals kids that want to get away from home. I wouldn't be surprised if he poached some. But again, I figure that would be the type of kid that wanted to leave anyway. I doubt UNA is a very tough sell for locals that want to stay home. I think Hud is a really good coach, but I do wonder if that probabtion ULL got hit with will stick with him. Obviously APU didn't care, so maybe not. Of course the Governors might not have much to lose anyway.

Hud's ego is too big to not be the HC. No reason to think he'll leave there anytime soon. He might be tired of moving.
